Mama June busted into the collective conscience in 2012 on TLC’s now debunked Toddlers and Tiaras, according to E!. While viewers were initially captivated by the antics of the then-6-year-old Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, the entire family became a national obsession. Launched into stardom, viewers watched as June “Mama June” Shannon, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon and Honey Boo Boo traversed life in the limelight.

While many viewers loved the family, other viewers tuned in to hate-watch the group as they ate ketchup-laden pasta. The shine, however, has since worn off Mama June, and her most recent arrest may spell doom for the family’s television stardom aspirations.

Why did Mama June get arrested?

Mama June was allegedly having an argument at a gas station with her boyfriend, Geno Doak on Wednesday when police showed up, according to Consequence of Sound. The officers were responding to the domestic dispute but were later informed by Doak that they shouldn’t put their hands in his pockets.

Police recovered a needle on Doak’s person and later found a glass pipe on Shannon. The reality television star took responsibility for the contents of her vehicle, which included a bag of crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. Both Doak and Shannon were taken into custody without incident, and Shannon’s car was towed from the scene.

The following day, Shannon was recorded attempting to retrieve her car from an impound lot. According to the audio file obtained by TMZ, Shannon was belligerent and manic in the recording. Some have suggested the mother of four was clearly under the influence while trying to retrieve her vehicle.

Will Sugar Bear take custody of Alana?

Sugar Bear, whose real name is Mike Thompson, has battled for guardianship of his daughter Alana in the past, and it seems likely he’ll once again attempt to gain custody of the 13-year-old. Thompson, 47, took Shannon to court over a custody dispute as recently as February 2018.

Sugar bear was prepared to take Shannon to court when photos surfaced of Shannon and Alana spending time with Mark McDaniel, a convicted sex offender. McDaniel resurfacing in Shannon’s life prompted the cancelation of the family’s TLC show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. McDaniel was convicted of sexually abusing Shannon’s daughter, Anna when she was just eight. Anna is now 24.

Thompson has also accused Shannon of purposefully keeping his daughter from him, While Shannon has accused her youngest child’s father of child abuse. Thompson is now remarried.

Will We TV cancel Not to Hot?

While Shannon will need to appear in court for the drug charges recently filed against her, she has other things to worry about, too. A conviction could mean the end of her current reality television show. Shannon and her family were axed from the TLC network due to Shannon’s association with a child molester.

We TV, however, picked up the 39-year-old mother of four to chronicle her weight loss journey. Shannon shed nearly 300lbs thanks to bariatric surgery. She later went on to have cosmetic surgery to remove excess skin. Not to Hot is now chronicling Shannon’s life as a thin person. While We TV looked the other way when it came to Shannon’s love life, a serious criminal conviction may have them rethinking their association.
