Cal Stone spoke Bulgarian. Michaela Stone saw a storm that didn’t exist. Of course, there are also the “callings” that connect the Flight 828 passengers to each other.

With season 4 of Manifest debuting on Netflix, here’s what we know about these characters’ strange and unusual powers.

The Flight 828 passengers experienced ‘callings’

Returning after over five years of being presumed dead is pretty miraculous. What happened to the Manifest character after this reappearance, though, was even more unusual. This drama series originally debuted on NBC.

After joining Netflix’s streaming library, it became one of the most popular shows on the platform. With each episode, fans learned more about characters like Michaela, Ben, and Cal Stone, who developed special abilities following Flight 828’s return to New York.

What are the abilities of the Flight 828 passengers from ‘Manifest’?

It’s started as hearing voices. These voices urged Michaela Stone to act against her instincts and even lead some passengers back to the plane. Eventually, though, the Flight 828 passengers learned they were connected via these telepathic “callings,” as nicknamed by Ben Stone.

Sometimes these callings come in the form of an abstract image, like a phoenix or a building. Other times, the calling is a stern voice or a very strong feeling. During one episode, the Stone family experienced a storm that wasn’t happening in the real world.

As the unofficial “Holy Grail” of the Flight 828 passengers, Cal Stone experienced more potent abilities than other characters. He could speak Bulgarian. Cal also underwent secondhand electric shock treatment conducted on other patients. In some episodes, instead of explaining his callings, he could draw them, sometimes revealing details of the future.

According to Refinery29, the plane itself could blow itself up. What these powers mean, though, is a mystery. Ben Stone believes that by following the callings, these characters have a chance at outliving their “Death Dates.” Michaela Stone believes that it’s each character’s chance at redemption.

Zeke developed empathic abilities during ‘Manifest’

Technically, Zeke was not on Flight 828. However, this character still experienced callings, some of which connected him to Flight 828’s Michaela Stone. After the two met in real life and Zeke followed his callings, the character survived his death date.

As a result, he developed new abilities. In later episodes of Manifest, Zeke was given the power of empathy. That meant that he knew what people around him were feeling. Sometimes that was a good thing.

Other times, this ability became a bad thing — like when Michaela learned about her ex-boyfriend’s relationship and Zeke felt her jealousy. Presumably, more will be revealed regarding this new power during the last season of Manifest.

Some fans await the premiere of Manifest season 4, a Netflix original and exclusive finale. Until then, already released episodes of the drama series are available for streaming on Netflix and Hulu.
