‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ is now certified diamond by the RIAA

Carey’s classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You” broke new records on Dec. 3 when the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) presented the singer with Diamond Award for it. The song is history-making, with it becoming the first-holiday single to ever receive a diamond status.

“The continued love for my song never ceases to amaze me and fill my heart with a multitude of emotions,” Carey said in a press release, as reported by People Magazine. “It blows my mind that ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ has endured different eras of the music industry. Her longtime record label is also happy with the news. “Mariah is the Queen of Christmas,” President of the Commercial Music Group at Sony Music Entertainment, Richard Story said in a statement. “Her Sony Music family congratulates her on breaking yet another record, and continuing to make history as the first and only artist to achieve this incredible milestone.”

What else does Mariah Carey have in store for Christmas?

Carey’s second Amazon Prime Video music special, Mariah’s Christmas: The Magic Continues, was released on Dec. 3. She has also partnered with the fast-food chain McDonald’s for a special budget holiday menu centered around the theme of “12 Days of Christmas.” Appropriately titled “12 Days of Deals,” customers can choose free menu options available wrapped in special paper with a minimum purchase of $1. Carey says McDonald’s is her favorite fast food joint, naming the cheeseburger her favorite off the menu.

This year, she also released a new Christmas single. “Fall In Love at Christmas” is a collaboration between Carey, gospel legend Kirk Franklin, and DJ Khalid. The music video features an appearance from Craye’s 11-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monore.

As far as why she’s excited about another holiday tune of her’s, People reports Carey saying, “I love ‘Fall in Love at Christmas’ because I love that it’s a departure—it’s a love song, and then it’s a spiritual song,” she said. “I say, ‘We pray at this Christmastime,’ like, love is something we need to give away. Let’s give love away. It’s really trying to say that we’re in a really screwed-up place in the world. We all need grace upon grace upon grace.”
