Married at First Sight fans don’t seem totally convinced about Brett just yet. The Lifetime reality contestant shocked fans when he tried to put the moves on another contestant’s friend during the bachelor party. Since then, his partner, Olivia, has voiced concerns of her own about Brett and his behavior, as well as his dating past. Now, Brett is defending himself, and the friend he hit on isn’t having it.

Olivia’s friends aren’t so sure about Brett

During a sneak peek of an upcoming Married at First Sight episode, Olivia’s friend’s subjected Brett to the third degree.

Olivia’s matron of honor, Kathleen, asked Brett some big questions. She inquired, “What’s your biggest fear right now?”

Brett, apparently feeling flippant, replied, “My contacts will dry out before I get back to my room to put drops in.”

Seeing that no one was impressed, he quickly added, “At this point, I’m thinking it seems pretty easy to be married. It seems super simple.”

Kathleen and her friends were shocked at his answer. Looking astounded, Kathleen replied, “Oh yeah?” A few moments of awkward silence followed, which Kathleen broke by asking, “Have you had like, serious relationships in the past? Why do you think they didn’t work out?”

It’s worth noting here that Brett has dated 45 women in rapid succession following a failed relationship. Brett replied, “Uhhh, there’s no generalized answer for that, I mean…I’ve dated lots of people who are very different from me. It just never really worked out properly.”

Olivia seems unsure as well

After watching her premiere episode of Married at First Sight with Us Weekly, Olivia seemed unimpressed by Brett and his behavior as well. Brett listed his statistics when it comes to dating, which seemed to annoy her. He also flirted with Kristen, fellow contestant Henry’s friend, during the bachelor party — not a great move when you’re about to get married to someone else.

Olivia told Us Weekly, “As for Brett, his dad did not seem thrilled and his siblings didn’t have much to say — the looks on their faces say it all. They all seemed shocked that he would even consider getting married given his dating history.”

She added, “I like that Brett chose simple black and white, but I have to admit that watching this segment was tough. It is not cool to hear about all of his past dates and canceling of dates. It makes me feel like he maybe isn’t ready to settle down. … Some of the things Brett says are so shocking to me. He sounds like a playboy.”

Why ‘Married at First Sight’ Fans Were Shocked By Brett’s Family

Brett took to Twitter to defend his behavior during the Married at First Sight bachelor party. He wrote to Kristen, “Isn’t it interesting how you might drink a bit too much on camera, and then suddenly people start making all kinds of rash judgements [sic] about you based off some highly edited clips?”

Kristen didn’t let Brett’s claim go unpunished. She replied, “No, you were actually that terrible and invasive to my physical space without any ‘highly edited clips.’”

Fans on Reddit were quick to slam Brett. One user wrote, “Great! The producers let this troll on the show to be an a** for TV. I feel bad for Olivia or anyone that he dates.”

“You know he must be a bonafide a**hole if he watched that and said, ‘No, I did nothing wrong. They edited this to make me look like a pig which I definitely am not,’” opined another user.

Another fan questioned Brett’s responsibility around alcohol. They wrote, “He’s acting like he was force fed the alcohol and had no control over his actions. Wouldn’t any reasonable person be extra mindful of their alcohol intake if they know their actions are going to be televised?”
