[This article contains spoilers for the Married at First Sight Season 10 reunion.]

This probably wasn’t what the Married at First Sight matchmaking experts had in mind. Zach Justice and Katie Conrad were matched with other people during season 10 of the Lifetime reality show. But they recently admitted that after filming wrapped, they got together for a drink.

“I got drinks with Zach,” Katie tells the group in a clip from the April 22 reunion episode shared by People

Fans suspected something was going on with Katie and Zach

On this season of MAFS, Katie was matched with Derek Sherman, while Zach was paired with Mindy Shiben. Both couples had their issues. Zach refused to move in with his new wife after they returned from their honeymoon. Plus, he was flirting with her best friend. As for Katie and Derek, her lingering feelings for her ex complicated their relationship.

On Decision Day, Zach and Mindy — to no one’s great surprise — decided to split. But Katie and Derek chose to stay married. Despite challenges, they seemed committed to making things work.

Yet rumors soon surfaced that things weren’t all right with Katie and Derek’s marriage. A clip from the reunion episode showed him accusing her of being unfaithful. Then, the @mafsfan account on Instagram broke the news that she may have gone on a date with Zach.

Zach and Katie hung out before Christmas

During the season 10 reunion, host Kevin Frazier reveals that two people from different marriages were considering becoming “more than friends.” Katie and Zach then fess up to hanging out after filming for the show wrapped.

“I got drinks with Zach. I think it was a couple weeks before Christmas kind of just to talk about this whole experience,” Katie said.

“Yeah, we got together and talked about the show. You know, you only have so many interactions with each other on camera, so that was a lot of catching up. So yeah,” Zach added.

Both Katie’s husband and Zach’s ex looked shocked and upset to learn the two had gotten together.

Zach says he’s ready for marriage, even though things didn’t work out with Mindy

Is it possible that Zach and Katie’s drinks date turned into something more? We’ll have to wait and see, but Zach did tell In Touch Weekly that he still believes he’s ready for marriage, despite the way things fell apart with his MAFS spouse.

“Without having any sort of connection with Mindy, I struggled to attach any emotional meaning to the words ‘marriage’ and ‘wife,’” he said. “Traditionally, those words are filled with an individual you would have envisioned yourself with. … I clearly underestimated the difference between a traditional marriage with growth in a chosen partner versus an assigned partner. That proved to be the challenge.”

“I still have no doubt in my mind that I am ready for marriage and that chapter in my life,” he added.

For her part, Katie told the magazine that it was “difficult” for her to be happy in her marriage to Derek, though she said they were working on their relationship. “Patience in all things is key, but especially when it comes to matters of the heart,” she said.

The Married at First Sight Season 10 reunion airs April 22 at 8/7c on Lifetime.
