Marvel Studios recently announced it’s working on a Halloween special that will stream on Disney+ next year. As The Wrap reports, the studio is currently looking for a “Latino male in his 30s” to star. The speculation is that the lead character will be Werewolf by Midnight. There are actually two comics characters who adopt that moniker Jack Russell (great name, right?) and Jake Gomez.

Who else would we enjoy seeing in the special? Marvel has no shortage of creepy characters who would feel right at home in any horror movie. Here are a few terrifying but lesser-known names we’d like to see make the cut.

Nightmare will haunt your dreams

Nightmare fees off of humanity’s psychic energy, as Marvel explains. He’s ruler of his own Nightmare World within the Dream Dimension. He’s terrifying because he enjoys torturing people, and to that end, he sometimes traps their dream selves in his realm. Which has the potential to be far worse than anything he could do to them in the waking world.

Doctor Strange is the one who has assumed the responsibility of protecting humanity from Nightmare’s evil ways. In fact, he’s gone up against the demon so many times that he now routinely casts a protective spell on himself before turning out the lights at night.

Man-Thing is creepy at its best

Man-Thing, a.k.a. Ted Sallis, is the last in a long line of guardians of the Nexus of Reality. But instead of following in the footsteps of his ancestors, he decides to work as a biochemistry professor at Empire State University. Because we all know grading papers is more exciting than protecting all of known reality!

Working with S.H.I.E.L.D., he develops a new super soldier serum (a different incarnation from the one given to Captain America). When the villainous organization A.I.M. tries to get its hands on the serum, he destroys the formula, committing it to memory, and takes the only dose himself.

When he crashes his car, he ends up in a magical swamp containing the Nexus. That combined with the serum coursing through his veins transforms him into Man-Thing, a creature born of swamp gook.

Lilith Drake is hate-fueled horror

‘Ms. Marvel’: Who Is Kamala Khan?

Lilith Drake is Dracula’s daughter, but they don’t exactly have a health familial relationship. Dracula and Lilith’s mom, Zofia, are forced together in an arranged marriage in the 15th Century. Dracula is abusive and banishes Zofia and Lilith. Zofia kills herself and Lilith is raised by Gretchen, who magically transforms her into an adult vampire.

It’s no wonder, then, that Lilith would harbor some anger toward her father. She commits herself to trying to kill him. But he’s wily and she never quite manages. In fact, he impales and kills her at one point. But this being comic books, she’s reborn and continues her murderous pursuit.

The Skinless Man, possibly the most disgusting superpowered character

Harry Pizer, the Skinless Man, is a product of the clandestine work done by Weapon Plus. That’s the same organization responsible for Howard the Duck, Wolverine, and Captain America. But Steve Rogers this guy is not.

He’s a mutant whose skin is elastic and multi-sensory. This makes him great at espionage. Weapon Plus brings him into fold and enhances his strength and his skin’s durability. In return, he gathers evidence for them and kills their enemies. But he’s betrayed by the organization and they send Fantomex to kill him. He lives, but Fantomex takes his superpowered skin and uses it to create sentient bullets.
