It has been a while since Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans have appeared in a movie with one another. That moment will happen again soon as the Marvel co-stars are teaming up for a new movie called Project Artemis that will be directed by Ozark star Jason Bateman. There is currently no release date, but the project has been picked up by Apple.

Not much is known about Project Artemis as it’s still very early in development. According to Deadline, the movie will be “set against the space race” with a screenplay from Rose Gilroy. Bateman is set to direct and executive produce the project. This will be Bateman’s third movie as a director. He directed Bad Words (2013) and The Family Fang (2015) along with several episodes of Ozark and The Outsider

Apple, who just won Best Picture for CODA, has faith in the Johansson and Evans project. The studio scooped up the project for over $100 million. Johansson is also producing the project with Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn through their These Pictures production company while Bateman will produce via his Aggregate Films company.

Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans will team up in a movie for the first time since ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Johansson and Evans have been working on appearing in a movie with each other ever since Avengers: Endgame. The Marvel co-stars, who played Black Widow and Captain America, appeared in many Marvel projects together including The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Infinity War

The duo almost reunited in Ghosted, another major movie for Apple. However, Johansson dropped out due to scheduling conflicts, leading to Ana de Armas taking her place. Johansson is also working with Apple on Bride, which she is starring and producing with director Sebastian Lelio.

Meanwhile, Evans is gearing up for Disney and Pixar’s Lightyear where he is voicing a younger version of the Toy Story character. He is also co-starring with Ryan Gosling in Netflix’s The Gray Man, directed by the Russo brothers.

Project Artemis is one of many large acquisitions that Apple has made for Apple TV+. The studio recently paid over $200 million for Matthew Vaughn’s Argyle and an untitled F1 racing pic starring Brad Pitt. In addition, Apple also acquired the Antoine Fuqua film Emancipation, which stars Will Smith.

In development right now for Apple are also Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Jesse Plemmons, Lily Gladstone, and Robert De Niro. The film is an American Western crime drama that documents a series of murders in 1920s Oklahoma in the Osage Nation. There is also a Tetris film in development starring Rocketman’s Taron Egerton.

Apple is having success with many of its television programs including Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and The Afterparty. Now, with the awards success of CODA, the studio is moving forward with a lot of movie projects with hopes of bringing in more subscribers.
