Rumors surrounding possible casting choices for Moon Knight have been a bit diverse; however, a great deal of attention remains fixated on Daniel Radcliffe as the potential Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) newcomer. We Got This Covered, Geek Tyrant, CBR, and more have all reported that Marvel Studios is eyeing the former Harry Potter star for the beloved comic book character. However, recent news suggests he may be up against some fierce competition from The Mandalorian lead.

The Mandalorian is easily one of the most talked-about shows in existence at the moment, and the lead actor has virtually become a household name overnight. Meaning, Disney may wish to put his skills to use outside the Star Wars franchise yet retain his Disney+ presence via a highly anticipated Marvel original.

Is Marvel Studios eyeing ‘The Mandalorian’ star Pedro Pascal for Moon Knight in the MCU?

DC and Marvel insider Mikey Sutton recently shared an MCU scoop concerning Moon Knight and Pedro Pascal’s potential casting. He stated:

MCU SCOOP – 1/1/20: The Mandalorian‘s star is truly beginning to soar. According to several inside sources I spoke to, the Mandalorian himself — Pedro Pascal — is on the list of actors being considered to play Moon Knight for the MCU. They stress that no talks or any negotiations have begun yet but Pascal clicks the right buttons for the role. (That he has no issues hiding his face for long stretches of screen time is certainly a benefit as well.) As streaming TV programs have much more flexible schedules, if Pascal is cast as Moon Knight, there will not be any scheduling conflicts with the hugely successful Mandalorian.

Before anybody jumps the gun, he is on the list but hasn’t been selected yet. Stay tuned. And wherever you go, there you are.

While Pedro Pascal has yet to be confirmed, his current place in the spotlight will likely boost him to the top of the list. Not to mention, if Disney wants him enough, scheduling conflicts will be avoidable. Yet, who is Moon Knight? Why is Pedro Pascal a good fit for the character? What is Marvel looking for?

What you need to know about Moon Knight

Moon Knight was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin; the character first appeared in Werewolf by Night in 1975. Across time, he has teamed up with many of our favorite heroes who make up the Avengers and the X-Men.

As TV Guide explains, unless Marvel Studios rewrites history (as they often do), the story will revolve around Marc Spector: a boxer turned marine turned mercenary who gets involved with the Egyptian gods.

Given a chance to redeem himself on Earth as an avatar of God, he becomes a superhero (of sorts) with an above-average pain tolerance whose powers are dependent on lunar cycles.

The character is a bit dark and mysterious, determined and resilient. In short, it would be odd if Marvel cast a light-eyed guy with soft bone structure and blond curly locks to jump into the role. Thus, most of the casting rumors have centered around dark-featured guys with piercing looks.
