Whether fans loved or hated Spider-Man: Far from Home, Tom Holland certainly has a ton of support among the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor has won over most fans with his performance as the friendly neighborhood wallcrawler. And according to a new report, Holland’s Spider-Man will cross paths with another fan-favorite hero soon.

Marvel Studios has big plans for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man

After the explosive mid-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far from Home, fans are wondering what Holland’s Spider-Man will face next. His untitled third solo movie hits theaters on Nov. 5, 2021. But beyond that, the MCU could have big plans for the hero.

Original Spider-Man director Sam Raimi is helming the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. And with the multiverse entering the MCU, some fans speculate a live-action Spider-Verse movie is on the way. If nothing else, Holland’s Spider-Man is probably due for an appearance in Sony’s films.

After all, Sony and Marvel struck a new deal in 2019 to keep the character in the MCU. So chances are good the agreement includes Holland’s involvement in the upcoming Spider-Man spin-offs. Sony has both a Venom sequel and the Jared Leto-starring Morbius on the schedule for 2021.

An upcoming movie will team Peter Parker with another teen genius

While nothing is yet official, Holland’s Spider-Man will probably do battle with Kraven the Hunter in the untitled Spider-Man 3. After all, the character is one of the only marquee Spidey villains who has yet to appear in the movies. But We Got This Covered reports that Kraven will reappear in a surprising second film.

Upon facing Kraven again, Holland’s Spider-Man will reach out to none other than Black Panther’s Shuri (Letitia Wright) for assistance. As the leader of the Wakandan Design Group, Shuri’s intelligence and battle prowess will prove invaluable. Although WGTC doesn’t clarify any plot details, the site speculates Kraven might pop up in Wakanda.

If he does, Spider-Man probably wouldn’t be far behind. Teaming up Peter Parker and Shuri makes a lot of narrative sense, given both characters are genius teens with a penchant for technology. With Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) gone, Parker and Shuri could be the next incarnation of the science-based friendship Stark shared with Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo).

Will Spider-Man lead the Young Avengers team?

Thinking even bigger, a Spider-Man and Shuri team-up plants the seeds for both heroes to be key members of a new Avengers team. Rumors are already swirling that Shuri will inherit the mantle of Black Panther in upcoming movies. And Spider-Man has always been considered a potential future leader of the MCU.

Several upcoming projects — such as Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel — hint at the formation of an entirely new Avengers team going forward. If the MCU hopes to up the ante in Phase 4 and beyond, having two marquee Avengers teams isn’t a bad strategy. And if the Young Avengers come together like in the comics, Holland’s Spider-Man is the perfect leader.
