Megan Thee Stallion is one of the buzziest young stars of the past several years, a rapper and songwriter who rose to fame for her song “Savage” and for popularizing the phrase “hot girl summer.” In spite of her relatively young career, Megan Thee Stallion has earned critical acclaim and has received a number of awards.

She also has a large fan base and will likely only continue to grow more popular in the years to come. In spite of her talent and beauty, there are some who just aren’t on board with Megan Thee Stallion’s signature dance move — and not long ago, she was taken to task by some of her college higher-ups.

How did Megan Thee Stallion become famous?

Megan Thee Stallion was born in Texas in 1995. Raised in Houston, her name at birth was Megan Jovon Ruth Pete.

Megan Thee Stallion was introduced to the rap world at an early age, since her mother rapped professionally, under the name “Holly-Wood.” As a teenager, Megan Thee Stallion began writing her own raps, performing them for her friends and family.

Her mother recognized her natural talent, but still wanted her to wait and get an education before pursuing a career as a rapper.

In 2013, the young woman started uploading videos of her raps to the internet, and in short order, she started accumulating a large following. She also started going by the name Megan Thee Stallion around this time, a name that referenced both her lanky figure and her attractiveness to men.

What is Megan Thee Stallion best known for?

Megan Thee Stallion released her first mixtape in 2016, but she didn’t break into the big time until 2019, after the release of her second mixtape. Her song, “Hot Girl Summer” quickly became the anthem of the summer, inspiring many to post pictures and videos that documented their own “hot girl summer.”

Her collaborations with artists like Normani and Nicki Minaj went over well with fans, and many heralded Megan Thee Stallion as the next big thing in the music industry.

Although Megan Thee Stallion has been criticized for her explicit lyrics, to her fans, she is the epitome of a strong, confident woman, who is unashamed of who she is. The artist is well known for her signature “twerk,” and her videos usually feature at least one sequence of the provocative dance move.

It was this move that ended up getting her in trouble in college before she achieved the fame that she has now.

Even though she has become a superstar, Megan Thee Stallion remains a full-time college student, fulfilling the promise that she made to her mother to get a good, solid education. Although she has been very successful, she has gotten in trouble on at least one occasion.

As she recently revealed to Rolling Stone magazine, she became a “campus celebrity” once her twerking videos first started going viral. The videos might have been popular with students, but her college administrators had a different view.

“They was like, ‘Is this what you guys want to be known for on campus?'” Megan Thee Stallion stated, admitting that she was called into a meeting to discuss the videos. “In my head, I was like, ‘Yeah, we lit! What you mean?'” Ultimately, she didn’t give up her twerking habit and ended up transferring universities — where she is much happier, and reportedly only a few classes away from completing her college degree.
