Megan Thee Stallion vs. Tory Lanez: Lanez Arrested for Violating Protective Order and Banned From Posting About Megan on Social Media

Tory Lanez insists he did not shoot Megan Thee Stallion but a judge issued an order of protection in spite of him claiming his innocence. Now, Lanez is forbidden from speaking about Megan on social media.

Rappers Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion’s ongoing legal trial for assault remains ongoing. The self proclaimed “Hot Girl” says the Canadian born rapper, who is a former friend and alleged lover of Megan’s, is guilty of shooting her. Since the whole ordeal occurred, a judge has forbidden Lanez from being near or contacting Megan. But Lanez reportedly didn’t take the memo seriously enough, or at least felt social media posts weren’t part of the equation as a judge just barred Lanez from speaking about or in reference to Megan on any social media platform.

Judge finds Tory Lanez in violation of his restraining order agreement

Lanez has been in a legal war with Megan since she publicly accused him of shooting her in the foot during the summer of 2020 following an argument. In recent months, Lanez has sent out several tweets aimed at Megan, denying her claims, and hinting that she’ll be the one found guilty of a crime and not him. Due to those tweets, Lanez was in court on April 5. Lanez was accused of leaking discovery findings to the press, namely DJ Akademiks.

According to a tweet from Nancy Dillion, a Senior Reporter for Rolling Stone Magazine who was present during the hearing, revealed the judge has sided with Megan. “Judge David Herriford heard nearly an hour of argument about Lanez’s tweets and said “some seem to be clear messages” to Megan,” Dillion wrote. “He added a new condition to Lanez’s release that he’s “not to mention the complaining witness in this case in any social media.”

Additionally, Dillion also tweeted that Lanez was immediately handcuffed and reprimanded until he posts a $350,000 bond. The arrest is due to Judge Herriford finding Lanez in violation of the protective and personal contact order. The order was initially issued in Oct. 2020. The next trial date in this case is scheduled for Sept. 14. The Shade Room shared live updates as the hearing was occurring.

The leaked information in question stemmed from tweets from DK Akademiks

In Feb. 2022, Akademiks tweeted that Lanez’s DNA was not found on the weapon in the case. The tweet has since been deleted. Megan shot back at Akademiks in her own series of posts to her Instagram story.

“I know some of yall blogs on payroll but please dont get sued trying to create a hate campaign. Be a real journalist and post FACTS,” she wrote, as Complex reports. “Yall got breaking news 15 minutes before court started and nobody has even been called in yet?” she continued. “Yall tryna win a social media campaign, this is my real life! Yall tryna get retweets spreading false narratives! @iamakademiks why are you lying? What did you gain?”

During the hearing, Dillion reports that Lanez’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, argued that Lanez did not provide Akademiks with any discovery in the case before Akademiks tweeted such.

DJ Akademiks denies lying

Akademiks may have deleted one tweet, but he stands by much of what he believes. He says he saw proof himself. “I saw this doc myself.. it literally says it was inconclusive in finding TORY DNA on the gun or magazine,” he said in one tweet

He even went as far as saying that he will be vindicated when all findings are released. “Meg can get the same document that they referenced in court today,” he wrote. “Hopefully she’s entitled to see what the DA will be using against Tory being that she’s the victim. It’s part of discovery. Ask the DA what the completed DNA test said…then come back & apologize to Big AK.”
