Why Mila Kunis Was ‘So Uncomfortable’ Kissing Ashton Kutcher on ‘That ’70s Show’

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are one of the most beloved celebrity couples. Together, they share two beautiful children and a stunning L.A farmhouse. But back in the late ’90s, they were simply co-workers, working together on the set of That ’70s Show. And according to Kunis, Kutcher was her first real kiss.

But as reported by the Black Swan star, she was “so uncomfortable” during their kissing scenes. Read on to find out why.

Mila Kunis says Ashton Kutcher was her first real kiss

When Kunis auditioned for That ’70s Show, she told a little white lie to get the part. The actors for the series had to be 18 and older so that the show runners didn’t have to worry about any age restrictions for their roles. So when they asked Kunis if she was 18, she said, “I’m going to be.” Technically, this was true, but they assumed she meant within the next couple of months. It turns out she was actually only 14-years-old during the audition process- meaning she wouldn’t be 18 for another four years.

Because of her young age, it makes sense that Kutcher was her first kiss on the set of That ’70s Show. In the series, the two play Jackie and Kelso, also known as the most popular couple in Point Place, Wisconsin.

But while her character was used to kissing boys, Kunis had no experience. Therefore, she was downright terrified.

Kunis admits that while filming That ’70s Show, she developed a massive crush on her future husband, Kutcher. And because of her feelings for her co-star, she was terrified to kiss him.

“I was like, ‘Oh, he’s so cute, it’s the Calvin Klein model,” she said, according to Insider. “Then I was like, ‘I have to kiss him?’ I was so nervous and uncomfortable. I had the biggest crush on him.”

But while filming, Kutcher had no idea that he was his co-star’s first kiss.

“I’m the first guy she kissed? Oh my god, I had no idea,” the Punk’d star told People in 2001. “I’m so glad I didn’t know that, or it would’ve been too much pressure.”

And although Kunis was smitten with Kutcher, their age difference was too significant for them to develop a romantic relationship with one another.

Yet in 2012, years after That ’70s Show wrapped up, they reunited. It was then that everything changed between the two.

While Kutcher and Kunis were “just friends” on That ’70s Show, everything changed in 2012 when they reunited at the 69th Golden Globe Awards.

Both were single at the time after breaking up with their long-term partners. And not long after, Kunis and Kutcher developed a “friends with benefits” relationship with each other.

Coincidentally, both had done romantic comedies that focused on “friends with benefits” dynamics.

“I did a movie called Friends With Benefits,'” said Kunis. “He did a movie that was very similar called No Strings Attached. We lived our movies out. We were just like, let’s just hook up. Let’s have fun. We’re both single. We both trust each other. Everything’s great.”

A few months later, they entered a serious relationship. Now, years later, they are happily married.
