‘Modern Family’: Haley and Alex Dunphy Reveal the Real Reason Why They Think Cam Can’t Drive a Truck

Cameron Tucker from Modern Family is a football player, an award-winning fisherman, and a musician. He also claimed to be a truck driver, despite what other members of his family said about him.

Here’s what happened during the “After the Fire” episode of ABC’s comedy series.

When a neighbor’s house burned down, the Dunphy’s and their extended family all pitched in to help. Gloria brought over a box of “snicker-snackers.” Cameron was in charge of driving a truck full of donations. Haley and Alex were tasked with going with their Uncle Cam.

Although the Dunphy daughters didn’t want to drive with their uncle, Cameron took the opportunity to showcase another one of his skills. Unfortunately, he wasn’t exactly good at driving a truck. He couldn’t let that show, though. He wanted to prove that even though he was gay, he could still do things that straight people were known for mastering.

Why did Haley and Alex doubt Cam’s truck-driving skills?

After several failed attempts at backing up with the truck, the girls gasped and even held hands. Eventually, the truck ended up stuck, topping the family members sideways. He wasn’t exactly proving his point.

Still, Cameron explained that he was trying to show his nieces that members of the LGBTQ community can do anything that straight people can do. Alex and Haley were quick to say they knew that. He wasn’t the only member of the LGBTQ community that these two characters knew, the girls explained.

They said their pediatrician, electrician, and even Alex’s nerdy Latin tutor are gay. That didn’t make sense to Cam, who asked why they were so surprised when he said he could drive a truck.

“Not because you’re gay, because you’re you,” Haley said. Alex added, “And by the way, you can’t.”

“OK, wow. I guess I owe you an apology,” Cam said to his nieces. “I made a leap there. I’m just used to dealing with stereotypes. I’m a little sensitive about it.”

Cameron Tucker had a few surprising skills, showcased during ‘Modern Family’

Sure, he loves singing and dancing, but Cameron Tucker has several layers. He played football in Missouri. The character then took those skills to Manny and Luke’s high school, where he earned a job as the varsity coach.

Although Mitchell Pritchett doesn’t love this other side of him, Cameron Tucker is a professional clown, who sometimes performed as his alter-ego, Fizbo, for family parties. Above all else, Cameron Tucker is full of love for his family, including his adopted daughter, Lily.
