We knew it was coming, but we just weren’t sure when it would come. Money Heist a.k.a. La Casa de Papel will be back for season 5. It’s been months since part 4 of the crime drama arrived on Netflix with more angst, action, adversaries, and bullets.

Fan hatred shifted toward multiple villains this season, and Nairobi’s death crushed everyone down to the deepest chambers of their hearts. But it ain’t over.

More was teased, more was expected, and more is coming. Bella ciao!

‘Money Heist’ season 5 is happening

Undoubtedly one of the easiest shows to binge-watch on Netflix, La Casa de Papel continues to be an international hit on the streamer. It’s part of the reason they gave creator Álex Pina an overall deal, pumping out series such as Vis a Vis (Locked Up), White Lines, and the upcoming Sky Rojo.

Pina took to Instagram and posted a photo of himself in a hammock at Vancouver Media, his production company. But he was not relaxing. He shared that he’s busy writing La Casa de Papel part 5. Who’s excited?

Netflix has not made an official announcement, but production in Spain for some of its shows is set to resume soon.

Fans are excited about the news

Pina’s comment section lit up, with Money Heist actor Alvaro Morte (Professor) chiming in with the clapping emoji, and fans expressing their excitement.

Those who weren’t distracted by the online presence of Morte — and sending him heart-eyed happy faces — were wont to make their demands for season 5.

Quite a few are cheering for the women to take over and named Lisbon as their leader of choice. Others want Berlin and Nairobi to make appearances in new episodes, but there is a segment of the audience who would prefer to keep the flashbacks to a minimum.

One fan wrote (in Spanish), “Please more development for the living: Raquel, Sergio, Alícia, Monica, Marseille … and less for the dead (aka Berlin).”

Another added, “It would be great to see Raquel more, especially the way her character was in the first seasons. IrlGirl power. And less flashback of dead characters please.”

However, if there is one plot point that the most viewers echoed in Pina’s comments, it’s they want to see Serquel. Fans implored Pina to up the romance factor between Sergio and Raquel (Professor and Lisbon), with some calling for a wedding. Some seem to be planning a ceremony similar to Berlin’s.

But first, the crew has to get out of the jam they’re in, and the Professor needs to survive Alicia Sierra.

What’s up with ‘Money Heist’ season 6

Rumors have been circulating for at least a year now that the series is ripe for parts 5 and 6. However, Netflix remains mum. Although La Casa de Papel producer/director Jesús Colmenar hinted that season 6 is in the bag too, Pina refused to confirm that.

During a May interview with Deadline, he joked part 5 is definitely a go but he couldn’t speak on any other seasons because “Netflix will put a bomb in my house.” At least we know season 5 is in progress.
