Since 2018, Nicole Byer has made audiences laugh as the host of Netflix’s hit baking competition show, Nailed it. Originally a standup comedian, Byer is known for crossing comedic boundaries and being open about her personal life. Her honesty and charm not only became a staple on the show, but a launching pad for her.

Nicole Byer is the buttercream that holds Netflix’s Nailed It together. Not only does she lead our mediocre bakers on their quests but she does it all with a smile and a joke.

For her efforts, Byer has received numerous job opportunities and even two Emmy nominations for best host.

‘Nailed It’ isn’t Nicole Byer’s only Netflix project

If you want to watch more Nicole Byer, you don’t even need to change streaming platforms. In 2019, Netflix dropped a collection of standup specials from comedians from all over the world, aptly called Comedians of the World. 

In Byers 30 minute set, she talks about fat jokes, Ursula the Sea Witch from The Little Mermaid, and the perils of traveling. 

Nicole Byer loves pole dancing 

If you have been on Byer’s Instagram chances are you have seen her on a pole. The Nailed It host loves taking pole dancing classes as a form of exercise.

She told Glamour that the activity was “something tangible that you can see yourself getting better at, which is what I love, and you get strong. It’s cool. I love it. I’m not good at it, but it brings me joy to do it.

Nicole Byer has been on other shows besides ‘Nailed It’

It’s common knowledge that Byer co-hosts Wipeout with John Cena on TBS. She also appeared in Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Good Place. She also wrote and created her own MTV and Facebook Watch show called Loosely, Exactly Nicole. 

However, the actor also voiced characters on animated shows like Bob’s Burgers, Apple & Onion, Tuca & Bertie, and Invincible. She plays Susie Carmichael’s mom Lucy in the Rugrats Reboot. In Vivo, Byer voiced a lovesick Spoonbill bird named Valentina. 

The ‘Nailed It’ host Has Many Podcasts

Byer may be the busiest woman in podcasting. She hosts a dating podcast called Why Won’t You Date Me?, which examines dating in the modern world with various guests. She co-hosts a friendship podcast with her best friend Sasheer Zamata called Best Friends!

Newcomers is a podcast where Byer and a co-host rewatch a famous film franchise that neither has seen. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Fast & Furious were covered in the first three seasons. Byer was previously involved in a RuPaul’s Drag Race recap show called Drag Her. 

Nicole Byer auditioned for ‘Saturday Night Live’

In 2013, Byer was one of 11 Black women to audition for SNL after the show received criticism for their lack of diversity. Her audition group included Tiffany Haddish and Amber Ruffin, now known for The Amber Ruffin Show on Peacock and Late Night with Seth Meyers. 

That year, Leslie Jones and Byer’s best friend, Sasheer Zamata, got roles on the show.
