A24 was originally founded in 2012. However, Spring Breakers really started the studio’s success. It established a name for itself with other titles such as Ex Machina and Room. A24’s The Witch acquisitions move particularly developed its brand across the country. The studio made noise at the Academy Awards with wins for Room, Amy, Ex Machina, and Moonlight. Some completionists went back to watch all of the studio’s prior releases.

2021 saw a variety of titles spanning various genres. A24 proves their variety through the visual brilliance of The Green Knight to the sociological beauty of C’mon C’mon and the laughs of Red Rocket. The upcoming The Tragedy of Macbeth is A24’s final movie of the year, which is generating a fair amount of Oscar buzz for Denzel Washington’s brilliant performance. Everything Everywhere All at Once is a great way to kick off the new year.
