[Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers from episodes 5 and 6 of Station 19 Season 5 and Grey’s Anatomy Season 18.]

The new ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 18 Episode 5 and ‘Station 19’ Season 5 Episode 5 promo confirms a firefighter gets hurt

The preview for episode 5 of Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 and Station 19 Season 5 starts with an explosion that shakes Seattle from the firehouse to Grey Sloan Memorial. No one knows what caused the explosion. But the promo briefly highlights a decimated neighborhood as the Station 19 and Station 23 teams try to evacuate the residents.

Later, it’s clear every house in the neighborhood can be ignited, and Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) says they’re in the “deep end” and instructs everyone to “pay attention” or they might get hurt. Then Theo Ruiz (Carlos Miranda) runs through the chaos with worry spread across his face as someone points toward the sky in the background. Someone is hurt.

In the next shot, a member from the Station 19 crew heads up a ladder, and Jack Gibson (Grey Damon), Robert Sullivan (Boris Kodjoe), and Dean Miller (Okieriete Onaodowan) hose down a massive fire down below. Then two people are spotted on the ladder. One is unconscious after an explosion and the other tries to help. Andy and Jack look up at the horrific sight, and Maya Bishop (Danielle Savre) jumps into action alongside Sullivan before Travis Montgomery (Jay Hayden) calls for an ambulance.

The setting shifts to Grey Sloan midway through the Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy crossover trailer. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) warns Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) about the “massive trauma” that will come from the explosion. Then Megan Hunt (Abigail Spencer) looks surprised as she enters the operating room, as if her patient is someone she knows.

Later, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) looks worried, but don’t fret. She’s safely in Minnesota with Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), Tom Koracick (Greg Germann), and Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman). But then the teaser suggests that Ben Warren (Jason George) is in danger.

Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) says she’s been trying to call her husband, but she can’t reach him. Then a clip of Ben flashes by, and luckily, he’s clearly alive with Jack. However, the Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 promo confirms “not everyone will survive” during Ben’s segment. Travis also tells someone at the hospital that there was a second explosion, and Megan breaks down as Owen seems to experience PTSD.

Finally, the Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy preview ends with the narrator urging fans to watch this crossover event live. Then we find out why. Bailey notices a silent ambulance approaching the hospital. Suddenly, she confirms what many fans fear the most.

“No siren, no rush,” Bailey says. “There’s a dead person in there.”

Now, many Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 fans are wondering who dies in the next crossover on Nov. 11. As always, viewers will just have to wait and see what happens. But Victoria “Vic” Hughes (Barrett Doss) suspiciously missing from most of the new promo. So while the preview suggests that Ben could die, Vic is the one who isn’t shown in the midst of all the chaos.

Meanwhile, we believe a member from Station 19 or Station 23 will be dead by the end of the crossover. According to the synopsis for episode 6 of Station 19 Season 5 on Nov. 18, both teams will come together to “toast to loved one they have lost.” New photos from Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 6 also confirm most of the Grey Sloan doctors will survive the event.

Owen, Megan, and Cormac Hayes (Richard Flood) gather around Farouk Shami Hunt (Bardia Seiri). The photos also show Bailey celebrating Thanksgiving at the hospital. She’s with Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.), Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli), Nico Kim (Alex Landi), and Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington).

Bailey also seems delighted with those around her. So while Ben isn’t shown celebrating with his wife, it doesn’t look like Bailey just lost the love of her life. It’s also possible Ben chose to spend the holiday with his fellow firefighters. As mentioned, Station 23 and Station 19 will get together to mourn the ones they lost. But whatever happens next, we know it’s going to be heart-wrenching. Stay tuned.
