No Time to Die is Daniel Craig’s final James Bond film, and for many, it is the end of an era. The film, which is set to be released on September 30, features a whole new storyline for the fictional superspy and introduces several new characters as well.

One of these new characters is a fellow “00” agent who clashes with Bond on several occasions — and as played by Lashana Lynch, this new heroine is bound to make waves with the fan base. In a recent featurette video, Lynch opened up about her character, offering up her own insights as to why this character is changing the franchise in a major way.

Who does Lashana Lynch play in ‘No Time to Die’?

Lynch is a British actor who has been in the entertainment industry for over a decade. She’s had roles in several high-profile movies, but her part in No Time to Die is certainly her biggest to date, introducing the actor to legions of new viewers. In the action-adventure film, Lynch plays a brand-new “00” agent named Nomi who entered MI6 after Bond left active service. An ally to Bond, there is nonetheless some tension between the two agents, especially since she was assigned Bond’s 007 number in his absence.

In a recent “making-of” featurette, Lynch opened up about Nomi, describing the agent as “highly skilled” and a “bit cocky.” Lynch also said that the movie “represents change…we see so many examples of women being strong in this movie and being bad-asses at that.”

Lynch has been open about how hard she worked to not only bring the action scenes to life but to make Nomi a relatable character as well, telling The Guardian that “I want her to be a real woman, but I don’t want her work to make her masculine. She’s not slick. She has it together, she’s highly competent and very highly skilled, but she’s a real human being and sometimes she’s awkward.”

Lynch is not new to the acting business. Born in London in 1987, Lynch began appearing in movies in 2012, acting in various BBC dramas and made for television films. Her first big breakout role was in 2017, with a role in the ABC series Still Star-Crossed.

Lynch is also a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, landing the part of fighter pilot Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel. A few of Lynch’s other roles include parts in Brotherhood, Power Room, and Fast Girls. It seems likely that Lynch’s role in No Time to Die could bring her even greater fame in the coming months.
