Although the band formerly known as The Dixie Chicks has changed its name to The Chicks, that’s all that’s changed. They’re still the same wildly popular country pop trio.

The band made up of Martie Maguire, Natalie Maines, and Emily Strayer will be releasing in just a few weeks their first album in fourteen years.

Here’s what we know about the Chick with the highest net worth.

The entertainment industry is changing with the times – and so are The Chicks

After the May 29 killing of George Floyd by police and subsequent worldwide protests, one of the results has been a greater reckoning in the entertainment industry regarding racist presentations of Black people. Words or images that insinuate a tolerance of racism are no longer endured.

From the re-branding of Aunt Jemima pancake syrup to HBO Max’s addition of a context disclaimer to Gone With The Wind, to episodes of 30 Rock featuring blackface being pulled by streaming services, awareness is spreading into every nook and cranny.

Country band Lady Antebellum is now Lady A, and the latest artists eager to distance themselves from the Confederate-era South are the Dixie Chicks, who now prefer to be known as The Chicks.

The band, in a statement, succinctly said, “We want to meet the moment.”

The Chicks’ first album in 14 years

The Texas-based band was about to release its first album in over a decade in May 2020, titled Gaslighter, when coronavirus (COVID-19) hit, and waylaid those plans.

Instead, the all-girl group dropped a single from the album at the end of April 2020 titled “Julianna Calm Down” and announced the album itself will see the light of day on July 17, 2020.

Their last album was in 2006, Taking the Long Way, which was the band’s response to being shunned by country music. This came after lead singer Natalie Maines famously criticized President George W. Bush in 2003, saying on stage in London, “Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence. And we’re ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas.”

Which Chick has the highest net worth?

Formed in 1989 in Dallas, Texas, The Chicks have performed throughout the years a variety of bluegrass, country, and pop music. Originally, the band toured for years without getting signed to a major record label. That changed in 1995, when Sony Music heard what everyone else was hearing and signed them.
