We all know the story of Anakin Skywalker and how one of his major vices, in the eyes of the Jedi, was his intense emotions. He also fell in love and broke the code by becoming attached and married to Padmé Amidala. His master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, tried to warn him against all of this, but, of course, he didn’t succeed in the end.

While Obi-Wan was a model Jedi Knight, he also fell in love once. And there’s a pretty convincing theory that Kenobi strayed further away from the Jedi Code than originally thought, producing a son.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Duchess Satine Kryze’s feelings for each other ran deep

One of the fantastic things about Star Wars: The Clone Wars is the depth it added to the Star Wars prequel era. It, of course, got into the war and the battles, but it also introduced so many new characters or gave closer looks at others. One character that’s particularly important is Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore.

In Season 2, Obi-Wan and Anakin are sent to help protect Satine as she plans to make a motion in the Senate. She also faced opposition and threats on Mandalore because she chose a pacifist stance in the Clone Wars. Mandalorians like Pre-Vizsla and Death Watch wanted Mandalore to go back to being a planet of warriors.

Why Did These Popular Jedi All Fall For Politicians in ‘Star Wars’ During The Clone Wars?

When the two Jedi go to meet the Duchess, there’s an obvious tension between Obi-Wan and Satine. And as Anakin slyly finds out — or correctly guesses — Obi-Wan and Satine had a thing before.

Obi-Wan doesn’t want to admit it, but back when he was a Padawan under Qui-Gon Jinn, the two of them went on a mission to protect Satine. That’s how Obi-Wan and the would-be Duchess fell hard for each other. However, Obi-Wan chose to stay a Jedi and Satine chose to continue her political career.

There’s a long-running theory that Satine’s nephew is actually Obi-Wan’s son

As the series went on, it becomes more apparent that the two had very strong feelings for one another, and they never went away. In Season 2, Obi-Wan tells her that if she had asked him, he would have left the Jedi Order for her. Sure, they were under duress, but as Satine died in Obi-Wan’s arms in Season 5, she honestly confessed that she loves him and always has.

While their love story has anything but a happy ending, there is a very interesting theory in it all. In Season 3, Ahsoka is sent to Mandalore to teach some cadets, and in the class is Satine’s nephew Korkie. He and his friends end up exposing corruption on Mandalore. Korkie also comes back when Maul is attacking the planet in Season 5.

A little digging will show you that, even though he’s Satine’s nephew, we don’t know who his parents are. He’s definitely not Bo-Katan’s kid, and neither mention having another sibling. With that little mystery already there, fans have come up with the theory that Korkie is Satine and Obi-Wan’s son.

As one fan wrote on Quora in 2017, Korkie’s age lines up with the timeline of when Obi-Wan and Satine were on the run together for about a year. And probably the most convincing “evidence” is just how much he looks like Satine and Obi-Wan. Especially when Obi-Wan’s beard is shaved in Season 4. The Clone Wars typically doesn’t typically include things by coincidence, so the fact that the animators made him look so much like them is convincing on its own.

There are a few things standing in the way of this theory

Ok, now this is just a conspiracy theory. With that comes the fact that there are a few things stopping this theory from being too real. For starters, Pablo Hidalgo of the Lucasfilm Story Group allegedly said Satine and Bo-Katan have another sibling. His Twitter is private now, so the evidence of that no longer exists. But that is a pretty plausible answer to where Korkie came from.

Another reason to believe this theory isn’t true is the fact that Satine didn’t tell Obi-Wan. She would have had to hide the pregnancy from everyone, and as someone pretty prominent in the Mandalorian government, that seems difficult. Yes, Padmé was able to hide or at least deflect who the father was of her kids, but she didn’t hide the fact that she was pregnant.

The fact that everyone knows Korkie as Satine’s nephew means she would have been virtually out of commission for months. Plus, she seems like the kind of person to tell Obi-Wan that information, especially in her last moments alive.

The biggest rebuttal is that it goes against everything Obi-Wan Kenobi stood for

The biggest rebuttal is the fact that it’s completely out of character for Obi-Wan Kenobi to break the Jedi Code so severely. As stated above, he was always by-the-book and was very good at dampening his emotions. There’s really no way that he would have broken the code to be with Satine. He would have left for her if she asked, and if they had become that serious he would have left on his own accord.

Plus, if Obi-Wan ever had the slightest inkling that Korkie was his son, he wouldn’t have just left him alone. And the fact that Obi-Wan is a pretty powerful Jedi means his child would be Force-sensitive. Obi-Wan would have sensed him, or at least that he was strong in the Force.

While this theory is fun and surprisingly sound for a conspiracy theory, Korkie is (probably) not Obi-Wan’s son. Plus, if he was, it would have been a way better story for Rey’s parentage than Palpatine. So, with it not being true, it gives us one less thing to be annoyed at The Rise of Skywalker about.
