What is the Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 6 length? Fans looking forward to the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale are in luck, as the final episode is slightly longer than most of the others. The “action-packed special event finale” stands at 52 minutes long. Aside from the finale, the only longer episode this season was the premiere at 56 minutes.

Early rumors suggested the finale would get a runtime akin to that of a feature-length film. According to The Direct, rumors noted the finale would be one hour and 33 minutes long. Unfortunately, for Disney+ viewers at home, this wasn’t accurate. A theatrical showing of the finale from Cineplex seemingly included a live Q&A session after the finale aired, which accounted for the extra 30 minutes of runtime.

Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 6 dropped on Disney+ at 3:01 a.m. ET on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

The finale features a special cameo that prequel fans will love

The Obi-Wan Kenobi finale brings a final showdown between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan to life — and the 52 minutes are also full of surprises. TVLine notes Vader and Obi-Wan go head to head, and Obi-Wan destroys part of Vader’s helmet, seeing a burnt Anakin Skywalker beneath. They have a brief exchange in which Vader explains how he himself destroyed Anakin, and Obi-Wan did not. After that, Obi-Wan walks away from Vader and heads to Tattooine to save Luke Skywalker from Reva.

The end of the finale should deeply satisfy fans of the Star Wars prequel trilogy. After saving Luke, leveling with Reva, and leaving Leia behind, Obi-Wan sets out across the desert. Then, he sees his old master Qui-Gon Jinn, played by Liam Neeson, as a Force ghost. Qui-Gon died when facing Sith Lord Darth Maul, and he made Obi-Wan promise that he would train Anakin.

“I was always here, Obi-Wan,” Qui-Gon tells Obi-Wan in episode 6. “You just were not ready to see.”

Will Obi-Wan Kenobi get a season 2? The first season was a hit on Disney+, and many fans seem satisfied by the ending. The series creators wrote it as a limited series without a second season in mind. But actors Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor would love to reprise their roles again.

“Well, it was definitely conceived as a standalone story,” Christensen told RadioTimes.com. “But I would love to continue with this character. You know, I think there’s certainly more there to explore and I would be so excited to get to do so.” The actor then mentioned he “would certainly be open to” returning as Darth Vader in future episodes if production wanted him back. Similarly, it seems Ewan McGregor hopes to reunite with Christensen once again in the future.
