Margot Robbie is a talented actor who has starred in movies like Suicide Squad, I, Tonya, and Quentin Tarantino’s film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She may be a big-time actor, but that doesn’t mean Robbie doesn’t get starstruck. When the Tarantino movie premiered, Robbie was shocked to learn this celebrity was in attendance. Sadly, she never got the chance to meet them. Find out who Robbie would have liked to meet at the red carpet premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Margot Robbie played Sharon Tate in ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is Tarantino’s homage to the movie-making industry starring Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Robbie. In the film DiCaprio plays a famed Hollywood actor who is starting to lose his luster. Pitt is his stuntman, while Robbie plays the iconic Sharon Tate, who lives next door to DiCaprio.

Though her role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is secondary, Robbie still captures Tate’s earnest presence. Tarantino especially enjoyed working with the Wolf of Wall Street star. “I just can’t imagine the movie without Margot,” the director told Collider. “She’s such a force of nature on her own and she’s such a force of light and goodwill on her own — just shooting with her is so much fun.”

Quentin Tarantino thinks Margot Robbie helped change people’s perspective of Sharon Tate

Tate was famously murdered on Aug. 9, 1969, by the Manson Family cult. Without giving too much of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood away, Tarantino took a few liberties in rewriting history. Instead of focusing on the tragedy of Tate’s death, Tarantino leaned into the “light and bright” aspects of her life.

In the Tarantino film, Tate goes to the movies alone to see herself perform in The Wrecking Crew. That scene captured what Tate missed out on in life. “She doesn’t have any plot to do; we’re just watching her live her life because that’s what [she was robbed of,]” Tarantino explained to Collider. Having Robbie play the role of Tate helped audiences view the Hollywood starlet in a different light. “As far as saving her from her tombstone, the movie has kind of done that to a small but significant degree,” Tarantino concluded.

Britney Spears attended the ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ premiere

When Tarantino’s film premiered in July of 2019, the red carpet was flooded with talent. According to USA Today, some of the couples in attendance included Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello, Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky, Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler, John Stamos and Caitlin McHugh, and Robin Thicke and April Love Geary. Among the crowd was pop star Britney Spears and her boyfriend Sam Asghari. Many fans were surprised to hear Spears was there, including Robbie.

Margot Robbie wishes she could have met Britney Spears during the ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ red carpet

“I had no idea she was there,” Robbie explained during an interview with BBC Radio 1. “I didn’t even see her, my friends told me afterward.” Robbie was upset she missed out on the chance to meet the pop star at the premier. Robbie admitted she’s not often starstruck, especially at premieres of movies she stars in. But had she met Spears, Robbie said she would have been shocked.
