‘One Piece’ 1047 Spoilers on Reddit Finally Confirm a Major Detail About a Critical Character

Thanks to Reddit, One Piece 1047 spoilers are here, and we now know some details about the new chapter that officially releases on the Shonen Jump app on Sunday at 11 a.m. EST. The One Piece manga and anime are both currently in the Wano arc, with the former being much closer to the resolution of the storyline than the latter. Let’s take a look at what we know so far

What we know about ‘One Piece’ 1047 spoilers
Courtesy of Etenboy at WG and confirmed by Redon at Apforums, Reddit compiled the leaked spoilers for One Piece chapter 1047. The chapter title is “The Capital’s Sky,” which likely alludes to the fact that Onigashima is dangerously close to falling on top of the Flower Capital of the land of Wano. Kaido plans to literally plop the entire island of Onigashima on top of the citizens of the Flower Capital while they celebrate the Fire Festival.
Beyond the title of the chapter, we have a few plot details that leaked as well. Most notably, this chapter will confirm that Gol D. Roger did not have a devil fruit, meaning he was able to become King of the Pirates through his own strength and that alone. Kaido apparently will comment on this, stating that abilities aren’t the end-all-be-all to conquering the world. Funny he should say that while Luffy in Gear Five is stuffing him in a locker.
This chapter will also, unfortunately, see the return of Orochi. At this point, he’s died at least more times than we can keep count, but this chapter will see him transform. We’ll likely get more details closer to the release of the chapter.
The rest of the One Piece 1047 spoilers reveal that his chapter will have a brief flashback to the night when Momonosuke and company left Oden’s castle to travel to the future, and Luffy vs. Kaido will continue to rage on. Luffy will use an attack called “Gomu Gomu no Thunder,” while the chapter will finish with Luffy forming a fist that’s bigger than the castle on Onigashima.
Does this mean that the conclusion of this battle will finally arrive in One Piece chapter 1048? We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s a safe bet.
What fans are saying about the ‘One Piece’ 1047 spoilers
At this point, you’ll be hard-pressed to find someone who’s happy that Orochi isn’t dead. In the thread for One Piece 1047 spoilers on Reddit, one user said “at this point, I’ll hop into the manga” in order to take care of Orochi once and for all. Another user compared Orochi to a cockroach, and it’s hard to disagree there.
We last saw Orochi breathing in One Piece chapter 1044, the legendary chapter that revealed that Luffy actually ate the Hito Hito no Mi: Model Nika instead of the Gomu Gomu no Mi. That chapter featured an impassioned speech by Kozuki Hiyori before the fire monster that Kanjuro conjured consumed Orochi in flames.
The constant fakeout deaths have been one of the most criticized aspects of the Wano arc so far. Fans have expressed frustration with characters like Orochi, O-Kiku, Kinemon, and Kanjuro escaping death time and time again. This latest fakeout even has some concerned that Kanjuro isn’t as done for as we thought.
Others are more focused on the Gol D. Roger reveal than anything else. We don’t know much about the previous Pirate King, but to some, it makes sense that he never ate a devil fruit.
A Reddit user stated: “Roger’s crew thought DFs were a myth before Buggy ate his. Shanks also said you can’t be a pirate if you can’t swim. Why would they say these things if Roger was a fruit user?”

There’s no new ‘One Piece’ chapter next week
Because of Golden Week, there won’t be a new chapter next week as all of Shonen Jump will be on break. Golden Week is a stretch of days that includes many Japanese holidays such as Constitution Memorial Day and Children’s Day. For many, this is the longest period off from work in the country, so it makes sense that the magazine won’t be in circulation that week. This will affect manga such as One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, Black Clover, and more.
