Cleo became a recurring character in Outer Banks Season 2. Most notably known for her fearless and confident personality, she befriends John B (Chase Stokes) and Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline) while they’re avoiding police custody in Barbados. Toward the end of the season, she becomes the new member of The Pogues. While the storyline for Outer Banks Season 3 remains under wraps, actor Carlacia Grant once teased that Cleo will have a brewing romance with a particular Pogue member.

‘Outer Banks’ star Carlacia Grant wants Cleo’s love life to be explored in Season 3

In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor Carlacia Grant discussed Cleo’s love life. In season 3, Grant wants her character’s love life explored in the narrative. When asked about a possible love interest, she revealed that Cleo “definitely has a thing for Pope!” The actor said, “She definitely has taken a liking to him… she showed him her knife skills, she doesn’t do that for just anybody.”

Grant shared that she’s interested in seeing Cleo and Pope’s bond grow stronger in Outer Banks Season 3. The second season ended with The Pogues stranded on a deserted island, far from civilization. So, will Cleo and Pope have a romantic connection? While it’s too early to tell, it’s possible that sparks might fly between the Pogue members.

Will there be an ‘Outer Banks’ Season 3?

On Dec. 7, the Outer Banks cast members announced that the show would return for a third season. Firstly, the 48-second teaser starts with Chase Stokes sending a message from Poguelandia. “I’ve got an announcement,” Stokes says in the clip. “We’ve got incoming news. Drum roll, please.” 

Then, Madelyn Cline, Austin North (Topper), Drew Starkey (Rafe Cameron), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Rudy Pankow (JJ), and Carlacia Grant (Cleo) proceed to do a drum roll. While overcome with excitement, Stokes says gleefully, “Season 3, baby!!! Let’s go!! We’re coming back, Season 3.” The rest of the cast proceeds to celebrate the show’s renewal. Even Rudy Pankow and Jonathan Daviss (Pope) recreated The Pogues’ handshake and said, “Woogity, Woogity, Woogity.”

‘Outer Banks’: 5 Major Questions Fans Need Answered in Season 3

Per Deadline, the series regulars are expected to return for Outer Banks Season 3. The ensemble cast includes Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Austin North, Drew Starkey, and Charles Esten. In addition, fans will see Carlacia Grant return as Cleo. Also, the actor was promoted to series regular as well.

The first season of Outer Banks premiered in April 2020, right before American entered lockdown. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, film production for Outer Banks Season 2 was halted because of safety concerns. 

Eventually, the second season premiered in July 2021, topping the Netflix Top 10 List. Based on the timeline, it’s likely that the third season will premiere sometime in 2022. But, the next installment may debut in the early summer if film production runs smoothly. However, an official release date is not confirmed yet.

In the meantime, the first two seasons of Outer Banks are streaming now on Netflix.
