In the first season of Outer BanksKiara (Madison Bailey) broke the Pogues’ cardinal rule — “no Pogue-on-Pogue macking.” Throughout season 1, Ki kissed John B (Chase Stokes) and Pope (Jonathan Daviss). Now, fans are wondering if she’ll kiss J.J. (Rudy Pankow) in another season of the Netflix series.

‘Outer Banks’ will likely have another season

While Netflix hasn’t announced another season of Outer Banks, fans are fairly confident about getting a season 2. Showrunner Jonas Pate low-key confirmed the potential of a second season in an interview with  USA Today.

“With all the turmoil over the first season, from the loss of [John B’s] father to his friends thinking he is dead, there are just so many variables to look at from a thousand-foot overview.” He and collaborators Josh Pate and Shannon Burke envision the show to be a “four season-novel,” which means the potential for plenty more of the Pogues.

The cast of ‘Outer Banks’ have chemistry off-screen

Pankow, Bailey, Stokes, and Daviss may play friends in a television series, but they share a friendship in reality, too. “We all had super-good chemistry right from the get-go,” Pankow told Entertainment Weekly. “[When] we started acting in the room, it was like instantaneous. I think we found the chemistry before we really got to know each other as friends.” That special bond helped them create the believable relationships they share in the fictional series.

Will Kiara and J.J. kiss in season 2 of ‘Outer Banks’?

Kiara kissed John B and Pope in season 1 of Outer Banks. Now, fans feel bad for J.J. being left out! I think people want what they don’t have,” Bailey told Entertainment Weekly. “If it was me and J.J. [kissing], then people would be like, ‘Well, what about Pope?’ J.J. is the only other Pogue that Kiara doesn’t have any romantic interaction with, so I think that’s why [fans] want it.”

Pate has paid close attention to viewer’s desire to see J.J. and Kiara together. “It’s been really interesting to watch the reaction to the show and to see how many people actually wanted Kiara and J.J. to be together,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “We’re thinking about that, but we don’t want to leave the Pope-Kiara story line short either. So we’re playing with a lot of different ideas of exactly how we’re going to platform Kiara’s love life into season 2.”

Is Kiara into her Pogue friends?

Despite the “Pogue-on-Pogue macking” that ensued in season 1, Bailey believes Kiara’s friendship with the Pogues is unique. “I wish I could tell you [where Kiara’s headspace is at],” Bailey explained to Entertainment Weekly. “I know Kiara loves Pope. But I think it’s kind of the same thing that happened with John B. Kiara was really hesitant to ever cross that line.”

As for what Kiara does in season 2, Bailey is hopeful she’ll maintain her close ties with the Pogue guys. “The Pogues are the only people that Kiara has ever found that she really, really connects with,” Bailey added. “It’s either like, have the boys as her friends or have no one.”

While fans are eager to see if Kiara and J.J. hook up, Bailey and Pankow are leaving that decision up to the writers. “Whatever the writers write, I’m like, always down for,” Pankow said — including an on-screen kiss with Bailey!
