There’s going to be some overlap between two popular period dramas. Outlander actor Alexander Vlahos is joining the cast of Sanditon Season 2. The Welsh actor will play Allan Christie on the next season of the Starz drama. He’s also set to portray Charles Lockart on the recently renewed Sanditon

Alexander Vlahos to appear in ‘Outlander’ Season 6

Outlander fans might not recognize Vlahos’ name. That’s because he’ll be playing a new character in season 6: Allan Christie. Allan is a member of the Christie family. His father Tom Christie (Mark Lewis Jones) knew Jamie (Sam Heughan) during his time at Ardsmuir prison. The Christies become Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie’s neighbors on Fraser’s Ridge, but the family’s presence causes problems for the couple. Jessica Reynolds will play Allan’s sister Malva

“Those of you who’ve followed the books know that Allan has a very dark history,” Vlahos said in a video for Starz. “But he’s also trying to find his way in the world. He’s come over to the settlers and to Fraser’s Ridge to try and take a claim of a little bit of his own manhood, I guess. Trying to emulate his father, trying to follow in his father’s footsteps.”

Outlander Season 6 will premiere sometime in early 2022.

He’ll play Charles Lockhart in ‘Sanditon’ Season 2

Outlander won’t be the only show Vlahos will appear on in the near future. He’s also joining the Sanditon cast. On that show — which is based on an unfinished Jane Austen novel — he’ll play a new character named Charles Lockhart. Charles is “a Byronic artist who arrives to paint portraits of Sanditon’s fashionable and wealthy residents,” according to PBS. From the sound of things, he definitely stirs things up in the seaside community.

“I am over the moon to be joining this wonderful show,” Vlahos said in a statement when the casting news was announced on July 22. “Charles is a mad hedonistic character who shakes up Sanditon, and I can’t wait to play him and for you all to meet him.”

Vlahos recently shared a behind-the-scenes snap of the Sanditon cast on Twitter, stoking excitement for the upcoming season. Fans feared the series would not return after it was canceled by ITV, but PBS stepped in and renewed the show for a second and third season. PBS hasn’t announced a premiere date for season 2.

He also appeared as Mordred in Merlin, taking over the role from original actor Asa Butterfield. Vlahos has also been seen in the National Geographic series Genius, Death in Paradise, and Privates.
