The Parks and Recreation cast became close during their six years of filming. Still, most of the cast members (even those who had romantic relationships on-screen) always remained platonic when the cameras were off. But it turns out Amy Poehler (Leslie Knope) had a pretty extensive relationship with one of her former co-stars.

‘Parks and Recreation’ had several on-screen romances

During Parks and Rec.’s seven-season run, many romances came and went. Some permanently stuck, such as Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) and April Ludgate (Aubrey Plaza), as well as Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott). Other relationships were more minimal subplots, such as Ann Perkins’ (Rashida Jones) early relationship with Andy Dwyer, as well as her romance with Mark Brendanowicz (Paul Schneider).

Leslie Knope’s relationships weren’t necessarily the show’s main focus, but they did contribute to fans learning more about her personal life. Early on, she dated Dave Sanderson, a Pawnee police officer. She had brief romances with an MRI technician as well as lawyer Justin Anderson, among others. But it turns out that an unsuspecting character became Poehler’s real-life boyfriend.

Amy Poehler dated Nick Kroll in real life

Nick Kroll guest starred as Howard “The Douche” Tuttleman on Parks and Rec. He was a radio host, though he never had any romantic interest in Leslie on the show. Rather, he and Ann Perkins got flirty, and she actually considered him to be the father of her baby when she was looking for a sperm donor later in the season.

Poehler and Kroll hit it off shortly after Poehler’s marriage to Will Arnett came to a close. She and Arnett had been friends for years prior to dating, but it wasn’t enough to make their relationship last. The two split back in 2012; they were married for nine years. In 2013, Poehler and Kroll started dating, and fans loved that Kroll had been a guest star on Parks and Rec. However, the relationship didn’t last. According to Us Weekly the couple called it quits in 2015, after about two years together. It’s unclear if they’re still friends.

Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally were married in real life

Poehler and Kroll weren’t the only Parks and Rec. couple to have an off-screen relationship. Ron Swanson and his wife (and ex-wife), Tammy, were played by Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally, who are married in real life. Mullally, who stars on Will and Grace, met Offerman back in 2000 while the two were working on a play. The couple tied the knot back in 2003, and Mullally went on to guest star alongside Offerman as his ex-wife on Parks and Rec. Tammy and Ron were married and divorced twice throughout the series, but off-screen, the two have been going strong for two decades.
