In season 5, fans watched as someone close to Tommy foiled his plan completely. And it seemed like he was ready to throw in the towel at the end of the season. So, what will happen to Tommy in the final season, season 6? We’ll find out soon, as the official Twitter account teased a release date for the upcoming season.
‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6 will be the last season of the series
Fans waiting for Peaky Blinders Season 6 can’t believe the season marks the final frontier for the series. The show followed Thomas Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy) as he navigated gang politics and family dynamics to get to the top. And season 6 will have to answer a number of lingering questions fans still have after season 5.
“This final season of our beloved Peaky Blinders is going to be the best one yet,” executive producer Caryn Mandabach explained to Deadline. “Steve’s [Knight] uncanny ability to be prescient about world events is only matched by his ability to make Tommy Shelby the most indelible character of our times.”
After the series ends, there will be a Peaky Blinders movie and possibly other spinoffs. Creator Steven Knight won’t create the spinoffs, but he said he’s open to others picking up the story.

So, when does the new season of Peaky Blinders come out? As fans get closer to the release date of Peaky Blinders Season 6, the cast and crew post more clues. On Nov. 20, 2021, the official Twitter account posted a clip from the new season along with the caption, “#PeakyBlinders series 6. Early 2022, on @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer.”
Along with the announcement, the tweet added a 10-second clip of Thomas Shelby. The clip shows Thomas walking down a street alone holding his bag. He seems dazed and he’s walking. But this is also a good indication that he doesn’t die at the end of season 5, which is what some fans feared.
When will Peaky Blinders Season 6 hit Netflix? It seems the new season will hit the BBC network first and perhaps hit Netflix a few months later. This might mean Netflix users will have to wait an additional time to see the new season.
Actor Conrad Khan also spoke about a possible release date for season 6. “That comes out, from what I last heard — I mean, these things change so quickly -– I think that will come out next February, the beginning of next year,” he told RadioTimes.com.

Actor Cillian Murphy mentioned he knows his character is “crumbling emotionally” from the pressure. “And I think he’s just trying to hold everybody together,” he told the Build Series. “He’s trying to hold his family, trying to hold his company, trying to be an MP, trying to do the right thing. … I think he’s crumbling emotionally and psychologically underneath all of that pressure.”
Steven Knight may have given the biggest clue of all, though. After Murphy spoke, Knight whispered, “He’s going to be fine,” in regards to Tommy’s fate. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
