Peaky Blinders Season 6 is well on its way, as the show creators have slowly been introducing new teaser trailers to the public. Peaky Blinders Season 5 left off with fans questioning whether Thomas Shelby died, as he ended the season with a gun to his head. Additionally, show creator Steven Knight claims the “stakes have never been higher” with the new season, as it’s slated to be the greatest one yet. Here’s what that could mean.

Steven Knight, the show creator with family ties to the real Peaky Blinders, believes fans will think of Peaky Blinders Season 6 as the best yet. According to Plymouth Live, Knight said the “stakes have never been higher” for the new season of the series.

Peaky is back and with a bang,” Knight added. “After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher.”

Fans have plenty of questions going into Peaky Blinders Season 6. At the end of season 5, somebody sabotaged Thomas Shelby’s plan to assassinate Oswald Mosley, leaving him in a fragile mental state at the end. Additionally, Aberama Gold died trying to avenge his son’s death. And fans want to know if Aunt Polly Gray will make an appearance, as actor Helen McCrory died as the season filmed.

Several teaser trailers have been released for ‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6, giving clues in regards to the ‘stakes’

While fans don’t have any definitive answers to their questions, production started to leak teaser trailers to give viewers some idea of what’s to come. One teaser shows Tommy speaking to Alfie Solomons. While many still wonder if Alfie Solomons is good or bad — and what his role may be in the future — many fans are excited to see Tom Hardy reprise the role.

Working with Alfie could lead Tommy down a bad road, though. Tommy shot Alfie in the past. While the two have successfully worked together, Alfie could lead Tommy astray and kick him while he’s down, especially when it comes to the failed assassination of Oswald Mosley

Another teaser shows Tommy talking to Ada Shelby. This could possibly foreshadow Tommy sacrificing himself for Ada in the future. Ada manages to stay out of a lot of Shelby Company Limited dealings, as she’s felt burned by Tommy in the past. But Tommy has a soft spot for Ada and could certainly go down if it meant saving her life.

Tommy remains at odds with Michael Gray, too. While Michael wanted to bring Shelby Company Limited to America, Tommy refused. This could lead to a serious divide in the family. Tommy may lose everything to Michael and his wife, Gina Gray.

And, of course, there’s Tommy’s personal life to consider. His marriage to Lizzie Shelby and his two children may put him at greater risk for something terrible happening to any of them. Tommy’s son, Charlie, continues to grow into the family name, adding a whole new dynamic to their relationship. Plus, Tommy seemingly still loves Grace, his first wife who died. Grace’s ghost visits Tommy in his times of mental strife.

‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6 director Anthony Byrne described the new season as ‘gothic’

Director Anthony Byrne knows ‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6 will bring darkness to the forefront.

“Tommy Shelby. Light and Dark. A man on the edge of the abyss staring into the void,” Byrne captioned a photo of Cillian Murphy as Tommy on Dec. 19, 2021. “A word myself and Cillian used a lot during filming was ‘Gothic,’ and this season is very much that.”

“You never know where these images will come from,” Byrne continued. “A full trailer will be with you very soon. I can’t wait to share it with you all.”

Given the clues from both Byrne and Knight, season 6 may be the darkest we’ve seen yet. This also could clue fans in that Tommy’s mental state may play a huge role in season 6. But it will also wrap up the Shelby storyline for now, as it’s the final season. And with so many enemies going straight for Tommy Shelby, he might finally get burned.

The Peaky Blinders Season 6 release date is slated for early 2022.
