Phoebe Dynevor Said She Had a ‘Full-Blown Panic Attack’ While Filming This ‘Bridgerton’ Scene

Phoebe Dynevor had the tough job of playing Daphne Bridgerton in Bridgerton. The character often had all eyes on her and really was the focus of the first season. The actor revealed which scene gave her a “panic attack” while filming the Netflix show.

Daphne is seen as perfect on ‘Bridgerton’

The show starts with Daphne Bridgerton making her debut to find a husband. She is portrayed as being the most beautiful woman to where she even got Queen Charlotte’s (Golda Rosheuvel) blessing.

This obviously leads to a lot of pressure. Queen Charlotte doesn’t want to be wrong so she gets invested in Daphne finding an impressive husband. However Daphne’s brother, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) almost sets her up with a very creepy man who needs her for her title.

Daphne tries to take things into her own hands. She makes a deal with Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page) to pretend to court so she can attract better men.

Phoebe Dynevor said she had a panic attack while filming

Some scenes can be intimidating to film. Dynevor revealed which one was hard for her to do.

“There is a scene in one episode where Daphne walks down the stairs and everyone is staring at her,” Dynevor said on Grazia. “That was one of the hardest scenes to shoot. Everyone has days where they wake up and feel like poo and don’t want to see people, let alone be on camera.”

She continued, “It just so happened I was having one of those days then, and felt so out of my comfort zone. Basically, I had a full-blown panic attack.”

She was nervous for the dance scenes

Daphne went to multiple parties throughout the first season. That meant she had to dance and Dynevor was nervous about it.

“I was really nervous about the dancing, because I’ve always told myself that I’m not a dancer, so I started to believe it,” Dynevor told Town and Country. “We had this incredible choreographer called Jack Murphy, and we had six weeks of rehearsals before filming began.”

The actor said this helped build the relationship between Daphne and Simon. “It really helped the chemistry between Regé and me because we had to learn to dance together, and that very much informed our acting relationship,” she said. “There were also a lot of scenes where we had dialogue during these dance routines, which looks easy, but it’s quite difficult to pull off. Those scenes where the most nerve-racking, but also the most fulfilling.”

Daphne definitely had a lot of pressure on her throughout the season. It sounds like the actor also felt that pressure at times to get her scenes right.
