Whenever something happens off-screen to a TV show character, there’s always confusion about their fate. Such was the case with Lauren Baldwin (Paige Hurd) of Starz‘s Power Book II: Ghost after the Jan. 30 episode. However, it seems her fate has now been confirmed by actor Alix Lapri (Effie Morales).

Lauren appeared to meet a tragic fate on the show

This season of Power Book II: Ghost follows Tariq St. Patrick in the aftermath of Jabari Reynolds’ murder. Somehow, Lauren got roped into the investigation and became a witness for the prosecution in order to save herself. After learning she had Brayden Weston and Cane Tejada on a recording, Tariq told Lauren she needed to go into hiding immediately. He sent her parents’ house to lay low until he could pick her up and get her out of town.

He later opened up to Effie about the situation. But Effie didn’t sympathize with Lauren, viewing her as a snitch and pushing for her to be killed. Knowing Tariq would never act, she went behind Tariq’s back to inform Cane, who then ordered Brayden to kill her.

Ultimately, Brayden decided to let her go, but then Effie showed up, forcing Lauren into her car at gunpoint. The next scene showed Effie creeping back into bed with Tariq in the wee hours of the night, visibly struggling with whatever she did.

Because they didn’t see the moments after Effie kidnapped Lauren, some viewers thought Effie might not have killed her. But Lapri seemingly indicated otherwise.

After the episode was released on the Starz app, Lapri took to Twitter with a message for those reacting negatively to what Effie did. “She killed a snitch doe 👀👀,” she tweeted, appearing to confirm Lauren’s fate.

Lapri also retweeted messages about Effie’s actions, including one that reads: “Can y’all stop saying Effie did that cause she wanted Tariq to herself 😭 that woman literally does not care. She did that cause she believed she was a snake.”

Hurd, for her part, has not addressed Lauren’s fate, at the time of this writing. But in an interview ahead of the premiere of Power Book II: Ghost Season 2, she teased that things would get complicated for Lauren as a result of her relationship with Tariq. “Expect her to be young, dumb, and in love with someone she shouldn’t be in love with,” she told Big Gold Belt Media.

Now, the season is down to its final episode, and things are getting intense. Teasing details about the remainder of the season, Power Book II: Ghost creator and showrunner Courtney Kemp said to expect “some more big deaths” as it comes to a close.

“[At this point,] we know we’ve got a bunch of dead guaps, we’ve got a dead chef, we’ve got a whole bunch of deaths,” she said on Instagram Live earlier in January. “So all those things have to come into play. And do we think, maybe because it’s episode 9, there are going to be some more big deaths? Let’s see!”
