One of the biggest questions ahead of the latest season of Power Book II: Ghost was whether Naturi Naughton would be involved. Her character, Tasha St. Patrick, had been earlier placed into the federal witness protection program, leaving her future on the show a mystery. She surprised us all when she turned up in the Power Book II: Ghost Season 2 finale. But will there be more cameos by her? Naughton teased there “might” be.

Inside Tasha’s return to ‘Power Book II: Ghost’

In the latest season of Ghost, Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) spent much of his time trying to gain custody of Yasmine (Paris Morgan) after their grandmother was deemed unfit. By the time he got it, his own life had become so chaotic that he was unable to be guardian for her, too. Tariq worked some magic and got Tameika Washington (Tyler Quincy Bernstine) to bring Yasmine to Tasha, who had been secretly living in West Virginia as Vanessa Edwards.

Naughton said she always knew Tasha could come back because of the way her story had left off. “One of the things that we always said is that the reason why Tasha’s still alive is so that she can potentially come back,” she told TVLine of her conversations with show creator Courtney Kemp.

“It’s always an honor to be on such a show like Power that I launched with Omari Hardwick, and now seeing, Michael Rainey, Jr. and the younger generation take it under their wings, and it’s flying higher than ever, it makes me super proud,” she continued. “I’m just happy that the OG Tasha got a chance to come through real quick. You might see her again.”

Naughton said Tasha’s goal is to reunite with Tariq

Tasha and Yasmine will get a new life in Indiana, but Naughton believes Tasha’s “purpose” is to get back to Tariq one day, made clear by the look on her face when seeing the truck carrying Tariq and Yasmine. “Her look of longing for Tariq is definitely in that moment, and she’s also thinking, ‘How do I get back to him?'” Naughton said. “I think Tasha’s always going to be figuring out like, ‘What can I do to get back to my baby?’ That’s really her purpose.”

Kemp said the goal is the same for Tariq, but it won’t be easy. “Tommy (Joseph Sikora) is going to make that difficult,” she told TVLine when asked about the possibility of a Tariq and Tasha reunion. “He’s also got his own show. He’s busy, but he hasn’t forgotten any of what went down.”

“And also, Tariq has to finish school in order to get his payday from his dad,” she continued. “So yes, there’s a version where they’re all together and they have the money, but Tariq has to finish college first. He’s got a lot to do between now and then.”
