Tommy Egan might’ve left New York (again) in the season 1 finale of Power Book II: Ghost, but that might not be the last you see of him. While he wants nothing more than to close that chapter of his life, his knowledge and experience in the drug business make him a valuable asset to those involved in that world, especially Tariq St. Patrick. But when would he come back to the TV show and under what circumstances? Actor Joseph Sikora (Tommy Egan) offered up some thoughts in a recent interview.

Tommy has beef with the St. Patricks

Viewers know Tommy was supposed to be done with New York for good after the death of his best friend Ghost. But after Tasha St. Patrick attempted to pin the murder on him, he returned with a vengeance.

When Tariq caught on to the plot, he offered Tommy a deal in which he would help him fake his death in exchange for his mom’s life. But that wasn’t good enough for Tommy. He moved forward with his plan to kill Tasha at the end of Power Book II: Ghost Season 1, only to find Tariq had her put into a witness protection program.

With no more moves, he decided to head out of New York but not before telling Tariq, “We ain’t never gonna see each other again.”

However, Tommy could wind up in Tariq’s life again — whether on ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ or elsewhere

As the show continues to film its second season, Sikora went on Instagram Live, where he discussed the future of certain characters, including his own. Tommy has moved to another state where he’ll have to rebuild his life, which will play out in the upcoming spinoff Power Book IV: Force, but he could still cross paths with old characters like Tariq.

While Sikora didn’t explicitly say that’ll happen, he teased the possibility. “I can’t tell you [if Tariq will seek out Tommy], but you know he’s definitely going to need uncle Tommy’s help at a point,” he shared.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Tariq seeking out his uncle at some point, especially now that he can’t turn to his mom for help. Showrunner and creator Courtney Kemp previously told TVLine that viewers will see Tariq struggling with her absence in the second season as “he will have no control over where she is or what she’s doing.”

“So, when we get to the beginning of Season 2, there’s definitely a feeling from Tariq of, ‘I would like to know where my mother is,’” she said.

While Monet Tejada has kind of become a maternal figure to him, Kemp said that his relationship with the crime boss will start to change over the few episodes. “In the second season, Tariq’s journey with the Tejada family will get even more complicated — and more dangerous — as he begins to understand the man he’s going to become,” she continued.

If that’s the case, Tommy could be a big benefit to Tariq, but viewers will have to wait and see if their relationship improves. Until then, get ready for Power Book III: Raising Kanan, which comes out in the summer of 2021.
