As Power Book III: Raising Kanan plays out, viewers are getting a better understanding of how Jukebox became the person she was in the original TV show. In a short amount of time, Jukebox has already experienced much tragedy and trauma, from the death of her girlfriend Nicole to that huge fight with her father. Viewers imagine it’ll only get worse from here, especially when her mom enters the picture next season.

Who is Jukebox’s mom in ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan?’

Jukebox’s mom is a woman named Kenya, who will be played by singer LeToya Luckett. According to TVLine, her character description says, “Kenya left the family when Jukebox was very young, tried to make it in L.A. as a singer, but now is settled in Harlem, where church is a big part of her life.”

Since she left, Marvin has raised Jukebox on his own. But he has a strained relationship with his daughter, which evolved into fighting in the Sept. 19 episode. When he learned Jukebox had been with a girl, Marvin became so enraged that he tore up her room. He also confronted her with homophobic slurs and went on a rant about his faith. Jukebox became fed up after a comment about Nicole and spat on him, leading to a fight between them.

It got so bad that Marvin almost choked Jukebox to death, before eventually snapping back to reality and letting her go. While he was immediately regretful of what he did, it was too late. The damage had already been done.

Some viewers think Jukebox’s mom will only add to the drama

Knowing Jukebox’s mother is deep into her religion, some fans think she could also clash with Jukebox, as noted by YouTuber MarcDarkTV.

“People mad at Marvin right now but I get the feeling Juke box Mom is way worse,” one person wrote in the comment section.

“Most definitely. Mother’s and daughters always be having that lil beef between each other 😂,” said another.

A third fan agreed, writing: “I believe her mom will make things worse. She will probably be judgemental and overbearing. I think she will try to ‘deliver’ Jukebox from homosexuality but of course it won’t work. I think she’ll eventually disown her daughter just to save face in the church.”

But others had different ideas.

“Moms probably like girls too,” said one comment.

“She might be cool with her daughter in the end and end up getting killed which causes Juke to snap even harder,” another wondered.

There were also some who wondered if Jukebox’s relationship with Marvin would improve, citing Krystal Joy Brown’s casting as an anger management therapist working with Marvin.

“Im interested to see how marvin will developed after getting some anger management,” one person stated.
