For many years, Prince William and his younger brother, Prince Harry were two peas in a pod. The sons of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana had grown up on the global stage. Despite their obvious personality differences and the different paths that they were on, it appeared that they had an unbreakable bond.

Many royal fans and experts had hoped that the Duke of Sussex would remain by his brother’s side as the Duke of Cambridge stepped into his role as the Crowned King. Sadly, that did not happen.

Instead, after meeting his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry decided he wanted something different out of life, a path that would not leave him in the shadows of his older brother. Unfortunately, this also led to a massive rift with his brother, one that is only now beginning to mend.

This is how Prince Harry and Prince William’s feud began

Royal fans realized that Prince Harry and Prince William were in a very bad place during Commonwealth Day in March 2020. The event would mark Meghan and Prince Harry’s final royal engagement before they left royal life for good. During the engagement, the brothers appeared to hardly speak at all. However, it seems that their rift began nearly four years prior.

After introducing Meghan to his family in 2016, Prince Harry felt that his brother insulted the former actor.

“Don’t feel you need to rush this,” William told Harry, according to sources quoted in the book, Finding Freedom by Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie. “Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl.” However, for Prince Harry, there was a “tone of snobbishness” that was “anathema to his approach to the world” from his own brother.”

Prince William has some intense feelings about ‘Finding Freedom’

Obviously it does not paint Prince William in a good light having allegedly referred to Meghan as “that girl.” Though the future Crowned King has reportedly been making amends with young brother, Finding Freedom is causing some newfound tension.

In fact, though the Sussexes released a statement saying that they have nothing to do with the book, Prince William isn’t quite buying it. An insider told US Weekly,

William thinks the book is their calculated way of controlling the narrative and that they took advantage of their entertainment contacts so they’d be painted in a favorable light.

Palace insiders are allegedly very concerned the royals will be painted as cold-hearted and unfeeling.

Prince Harry and Prince William have been having difficult discussions

Thankfully, Prince William and Prince Harry are apparently talking through their issues (via the telephone and Zoom) instead of simply ignoring one another.

Even before he met Meghan, the younger prince was apparently very unhappy in The Firm for some time, now with him living in LA and Prince William in the U.K. they can have very honest and frank conversations.

“The pair are speaking at the moment, but the conversations are stilted and difficult,” royal author Phil Dampier recently told Daily Mail. Hopefully, the pair can be as close as they once were in the near future.
