As a member of the British royal family, Prince William‘s entire life has been put on the global stage. In the past, the prince spoke openly about his disdain for his lack of privacy. After college, he even hoped to go to America for a while before taking on robust royal duties.

However, that never happened. Instead, the prince has lived with and adjusted to the scrutiny. Since much of his life has been on film, William also has many memories and keepsakes, especially during the first half of his life when his mother, Princess Diana, was still alive.

There is even an adorable video of the toddler age prince applying makeup on his mother’s glowing face.

Prince William and Princess Diana had wonderful memories together

Princess Diana died when Prince William was just 15, and Prince Harry was only 12. However, the princes have wonderful memories of their mother. As the eldest son, Prince William remembers the most.

They were often spotted together cheering on Prince Charles at polo matches. The prince also recalled his mother’s epic sense of humor. “That’s lived with me forever about her loving and embarrassing and sort of, you know being — being the sort of the joker,” he explained in the documentary, Diana, Our Mother: Life and Legacy.

The princess also ensured that her sons had well-rounded experiences, taking them to fast-food restaurants, amusement parks, and visiting the less fortunate. They were all extremely close and would’ve certainly remained so had Princess Diana lived.

Prince William thinks he knows exactly what kind of grandmother Princess Diana would’ve been

If Princess Diana had lived, she would’ve had four grandchildren by now, Prince William’s sons Prince Louis and Prince George, and his daughter Princess Charlotte. The late princess would’ve also been a grandmother to Prince Harry’s son, Archie Harrison.

Prince William has spoken publically on what kind of grandmother his mother would have been. “She’d be a nightmare grandmother, an absolute nightmare,” William said joked in the documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy. “She’d love the children to bits, but she’d be an absolute nightmare. She’d come, probably at bath time, cause an amazing scene, bubbles everywhere, bathwater all over the place, and then leave.”

The princess was certainly known for being a great deal of fun.

Prince William did Princess Diana’s makeup in the adorable video

One of Prince William and Princess Diana’s most adorable mother/son moments was captured on film. In a 1985 clip when William was 3-years-old, he can be seen patting his mom’s face with her face power puff, and she smiled up at him. Watch the video here.

In the video, Prince William is wearing a checkered shirt and red pants, while the princess is dressed in a soft blue floral dress.

According to Tatler, the clip comes from a photo shoot featuring Diana, William, and a 1-year-old Prince Harry taken by famed royal photographer, Tim Graham.
