Princess Eugenie just offered a glimpse of her 2022 Trooping the Colour experience. Platinum Jubilee weekend kicked off with Queen Elizabeth II’s annual birthday parade. Eugenie, 32, shared some sweet photos of her and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, along with their son, August, during the parade’s flypast.

Princess Eugenie wasn’t on the balcony for Trooping the Colour

Eugenie’s Trooping the Colour experience looked different in 2022 than in years past. The youngest of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s children didn’t stand on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with other royals.

Ahead of the celebration, the palace announced Queen Elizabeth had decided to invite fewer royals than normal to join her on the balcony.

In a May 6 statement obtained by TMZ, the palace said only working royals would be permitted. “After careful consideration, the queen has decided this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday, 2 June, will be limited to Her Majesty, and those members of the royal family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the queen,” the statement read.

As a result, Eugenie, her older sister Princess Beatrice, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Andrew, would be among those not on the balcony. Instead, many non-working royals watched the parade in the Major General’s Office overlooking Horse Guards Parade.

Princess Eugenie’s Trooping the Colour Instagram post: ‘The most perfect day to celebrate’

Royal watchers got a look at Eugenie’s Trooping the Colour experience thanks to a June 2 Instagram post. Eugenie shared three photos and a video of her, Brooksbank, and their 1-year-old son, August, taking in the flypast from a rooftop.

Eugenie, wearing a powder blue dress and fascinator hat, stood next to Brooksbank, who had August in his arms. The trio waved to oncoming planes in one photo while in another Eugenie had her arm around her husband. They continued to wave as planes came closer. And when planes streaked by with red, white, and blue they, along with others, cheered.

“The most perfect day to celebrate 70 years 🥳🥳🥳🥳,” Eugenie captioned the post, referring to Queen Elizabeth’s historic milestone.

Additionally, there have been other Platinum Jubilee events for Eugenie. On June 3, 2022, she and other royals gathered to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 70-year reign at St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Eugenie attended the service of thanksgiving with Brooksbank. The couple, who married in October 2018, sat next to Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo “Edo” Mapelli Mozzi. They were also joined by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who traveled from their home in California with their kids for Platinum Jubilee weekend.

The service likely isn’t the only time Eugenie will see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Harry and Meghan — and their two kids — are reportedly staying with Eugenie, Jack, and August, at Frogmore Cottage, their former UK residence.
