Queen Elizabeth II is one of the most powerful women in the world and the longtime ruler of Britain. The monarch has had some trying times lately, between the scandal involving Prince Andrew’s alleged friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s defection from the royal family.

From all appearances, it seems as though the queen has no time to unwind. Still, according to a recent report, Queen Elizabeth turns to a top-secret diary when she wants to decompress, a diary that only one other person in the world has access to.

Queen Elizabeth II is one of the world’s most respected women

Queen Elizabeth II is the world’s longest-reigning British monarch, a woman who assumed the throne when she was a young girl. She has led her country through many storms, including several wars and multiple humanitarian situations that could have caused a lesser woman to crumble. From World War II to the tragic death of Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth has witnessed a lot in her lifetime.

Even though she is in her nineties, Queen Elizabeth II works as hard as ever. The monarch remained mostly in seclusion during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, working from behind closed doors. Recently, she has begun stepping out once more, and although she is undoubtedly feeling a lot of pressure, being in the spotlight is nothing new for the queen.

Well before she could foresee the epic way that her life would turn out, Queen Elizabeth II was in the public eye. Raised as a princess, the young woman was featured on stamps, magazine covers, and children’s books, with the entire world developing an intense fascination with her and her sister, Princess Margaret. After she became queen unexpectedly in 1952, she ascended to new heights of fame.

Just like every public figure, the queen has had to deal with intense criticism. During the course of her reign, she has suffered accusations of being too traditional as well as cold and unfeeling — public sentiment reached new lows following the death of Princess Diana when many British citizens accused the queen of being too harsh toward the “People’s Princess.” Still, Queen Elizabeth II was able to rebound from the dark days, and these days, she is considered to be one of the most beloved monarchs of all time.

When she wants to unwind, Queen Elizabeth II is not averse to a cocktail or a piece of chocolate, in spite of her strict diet. Still, her favorite way to decompress is to write in her secret diary.

In a recent report, a royal family insider revealed that the queen writes in the diary every single day, recording her innermost thoughts and feelings. The source stated that the diaries are kept carefully guarded and that only Prince Philip, the queen’s husband of many decades, has access to them.

“The Queen has always maintained an air of inscrutability in public, but there is little doubt she must have strong opinions on the events—both the personal and public—she has witnessed,” the source admitted, revealing that “from the death of [Princess] Diana to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s dramatic exit from royal life, Her Majesty’s deepest thoughts on these seismic events are known only to her and, perhaps, the Duke of Edinburgh. Her written record of her life would surely make for fascinating reading.”

While her diaries have reportedly never gone missing, there’s no doubt that anyone in the world would absolutely love to get a peek at the heartfelt entries contained in them.
