The ABC series concluded after 13 episodes, possibly marking the end of the Nasty Girls’ story as the network hasn’t announced a renewal for season 2 yet.

Following the series finale, singer Brandy, who portrays Naomi “Xplicit Lyrics” Harris-Jones, spoke with Deadline about the possibility of reprising her role.

When asked about any developments on season 2, Brandy admitted she had no idea but did “hope that we get another chance to do what we all love to do.” Brandy noted that if there is another season, she wants it to feature the ladies doing more stage performances. “Fingers crossed,” she added.

The actor also acknowledged the possibility of the show’s permanent conclusion but pointed out she plans to continue appearing in projects. “I love what I do, and I’m so inspired. This show brought a whole new energy to my life, which has been such a blessing.” Brandy closed by shooting her shot for Starz drama universe, Power. “I don’t know if you watched Star, but I played a whole gangster on there.”

Brandy portrays Naomi ‘Xplicit Lyrics’ on ‘Queens’

In the ’90s, Brianna “Professor Sex” Robinson (Eve J. Cooper), Jill “Da Thrill” Sumpter (Naturi Naughton), Valeria “Butter Pecan” Mendez (Nadine Velazquez), and Naomi made history and broke through glass ceilings as a female rap group, Nasty B—–.

After an abrupt breakup seemingly ended their story, the ladies reconnected twenty years later.

However, Naomi had to put aside her beef with Valeria, who publicly dated her love interest and their manager, Eric Jones (Taylor Sele). Additionally, Jill, married at the time to the deacon of her church Darren (Emerson Brooks), came out during a televised performance, propelling her to fame she hadn’t even reached in the ’90s.

Throughout ABC’s Queens, the ladies experience highs and lows, personally and together, but support each other as they attempt to return to their former heights.

She admitted she ‘felt like Cinderella’ during the ‘Queens’ Season 1 finale

When the group reunited, Naomi, the mother of 20-year-old Jojo Harris (Precious Way), and their manager, Eric, clearly had unresolved feelings for each other.

She eventually admitted he fathered her daughter, bonding the two more, especially as he and Jojo quickly established a good relationship. After buying Brianna’s house when she relocated to Costa Rica, Naomi, Eric, and their daughter have shared her home as a family themselves.
