There are a lot of soap operas on daytime television, but few as long-running and as perennially popular as The Bold and the Beautiful. In the years since the show first debuted on television, it has spawned dozens of stars, inspired massive fan devotion, and indirectly provided fodder for countless other shows that have followed in its path. Viewers still tune in regularly to this day, and the show displays no signs of ever really going away. Some characters on The Bold and the Beautiful are infinitely more popular than others, and one character, in particular, is a point of contention among fans.

When did The Bold and the Beautiful premiere?

The eighties were a groundbreaking time in the entertainment world. As well as seeing the release of movies like Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, and so many more epics that shape the way we see popular film, the decade also saw the debut of prominent TV shows such as The Bold and the Beautiful. The daytime soap premiered in 1987 and was almost instantly a hot topic with viewers.

The show centered around the lives, loves, and exploits of the wealthy Forrester family. Set in Los Angeles, The Bold and the Beautiful was created as a sister show to another long-running soap opera, The Young and the Restless. Many of the show’s original actors have continued appearing on the show for years, including series lead John McCook and actress Katherine Kelly Lang. Still, countless other stars have graced the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful over the years, including actress Rena Sofer.

Rena Sofer was born in California in 1968. The strikingly beautiful actress first started appearing on television in the late eighties. Her early roles included appearances in the soap opera Loving and a three-year stint on the medical drama General Hospital. Although she left the show’s regular cast in 1996, she would ultimately return as a guest star for several episodes during 1997.

In 2013, Sofer joined the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful. Her character, Quinn Fuller, was created especially for her and instantly became one of the show’s most buzzworthy characters. Quinn, as played by Sofer, is mysterious and flirtatious. Her career as a jewelry designer has led to several of the show’s most intriguing story points, and Sofer expertly manages to portray the many facets of Quinn’s personality. Sofer is still one of the show’s biggest stars, but fans have remained divided about just how much she actually brings to The Bold and the Beautiful

What do fans think about Quinn’s character?

In spite of Quinn’s fascinating outer shell, she has been responsible for a number of schemes over the years. The designer has duped even her closest friends when it best suits her interests, and that devious nature has led many fans to want to see significantly less of her on The Bold and the Beautiful. One of her most divisive moments on the show was when she misled her son, Wyatt, about whom his real father was.

Still, for all those fans who dislike Quinn and her schemes, there are those who appreciate how interesting her character is. After all, many of the characters on daytime soap operas are equally shady in their own way – Quinn is just a bit more “in your face” about it. A quick scroll through The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Twitter page reveals that just as many people love Quinn and can’t wait to see what happens next in her journey. Ultimately, the divisiveness surrounding Quinn might just be the best thing that could have happened to the soap opera – regular conversation keeps the show in the headlines, week after week!
