‘RHONJ’: Margaret Josephs Compares Her Past to the Rumors About Jackie Goldschneider’s Husband: ‘With Me, There Were Receipts’
In light of the infidelity rumors that rocked The Real Housewives of New Jersey at the beginning of season 11, Margaret Josephs got open and honest in an interview about her take on the feud. Like many others, she didn’t think anything should be said without proof. Taking Jackie Goldschneider and her husband’s side, Josephs used her own ‘torrid love affair’ as an example of how ridiculous it was for Teresa Giudice to proceed to tell other people about the cheating rumor without ‘having receipts’ to back the allegation.

Starting season 11 off with a bang, Giudice alleges that Goldschneider’s husband Evan is cheating on her, saying that Evan cheats on her at the gym. When confronted about spreading lies by Goldschneider, Giudice admits that she doesn’t remember who she heard the rumor from but that she heard it nonetheless.
In an interview with Gee Thanks, Just Bought It, available on Apple Podcasts, with Caroline Moss, the host admits she interpreted Teresa’s rumor — that Evan cheats on Jackie at the gym — as saying something totally different. Josephs agreed with the host that everybody interpreted it differently.
“I had other people reach out to me and say, ‘Oh, I thought she meant gay things.’ … Some people thought that. Well, I didn’t think that. I thought she meant — I guess because I know the way Teresa thinks — I thought she meant he had a girlfriend. People are like, ‘She never said girlfriend … Everybody takes away something different when they hear something. Because I didn’t say verbatim to my husband — you know, everybody thinks something different … so I took it as that, and I was like, ‘Oh my god. I’m going to have a nervous breakdown’ because it was our first night back together … what timing.”

When it was all said and done, Josephs was quick to side with Jackie and Evan and didn’t support Teresa spreading the awful rumor. Many fans and cast members alike felt like it was a low blow for the RHONJ star to spread the rumor she heard without evidence that it was true. “This isn’t something you talk about at a party, let alone on a national TV show,” Josephs told Moss. “But it is something that has happened on housewives before.”
She compared this situation to her past affair on the show
As you might remember from a couple of seasons ago, Josephs’ current husband, Joe Benigno, wasn’t her first husband when she started the show. In fact, she actually was in an affair amid her time on RHONJ. He was hired to be her contract plumber, but he kept coming around for more — and it had nothing to do with her plumbing.
Discussing Giudice’s unfounded rumor about Goldschneider being cheated on by her husband, Josephs brings up her own past as an example for Moss. After all, her past affair with her now-husband Benigno was founded, unlike the rumors spread about Evan.
“I also felt like, ‘There’s no basis for this [Teresa’s rumor].’ You know, with me, there were receipts,” Josephs says honestly. “I mean, there definitely was. With this, there weren’t any receipts … They didn’t go right to the source. I was just like, ‘This isn’t a good situation.'”
As Margaret Josephs is trying to say about Teresa Giudice’s rumor with her personal example, it’s not right to start telling everyone about the supposed affair if you can’t remember who you heard it from and don’t have any more evidence than an unreliable he-said-she-said. After all, this is someone’s marriage at stake — not just another catfight on the show.
