We all love Rihanna. She’s talented, she’s beautiful, she cares about the underdog and she doesn’t mind shutting down people that go ‘there’ (if ‘there’ is somewhere she does not want them to be).

Recently she gave out advice for how you can feel savage, or badass, even on your worst days. And when RiRi talks, we listen.

She proves her savageness all the time

Whether or not she was born with that savage attitude, Rihanna clearly oozes it. And she’s worked it on several occasions.

Most recently, her Sept. 10 Savage X Fenty show at New York Fashion Week did the talking for her. It showcased her lingerie line’s jaw-dropping variety of bras, underwear, bodysuits and sexy undergarments, created for every woman, no matter her size or shape. It’s a message of body positivity and size-inclusivity that makes her more and more beloved by her fans.

She told Business of Fashion after the show, There are a lot of women out there who are feeling in the dark, invisible. ‘I can’t try that on because I’m not made like that.’ This is where you feel safe, right here at Savage.”

Her savageness has been on full display as well when she’s spoken up about injustices. Example? Refusing to perform at Super Bowl LIII because it was important to her to support Colin Kaepernick’s stance against police brutality and be in solidarity with him. As well, in 2017, she took to social media to call for the release of Cyntoia Brown from prison. Brown said she was a victim of human trafficking and killed her attacker in self-defense when she was 16.

She also has savage friends

Rihanna keeps savage company too including trendsetting musical force Lizzo. The two have recently formed a mutual admiration, both for each other’s music and, well, savageness.

Gosh I love Lizzo. She’s so badass…I would collaborate with her on the lights for this interview right now, like Lizzo is so badass,” Rihanna told Entertainment Tonight. “She is everything that Savage stands for.”

RiRi added, “A confident woman, no matter what size, color, shape. Your attitude is what makes you savage. It’s the confidence that you have in yourself and it’s the confidence that you can give off to people who look like you and feel like you and those are the people that identify with the brand.”

Her savage advice to turn any crappy day around

Between feeling pressure to get her new album out and rumors that she may be expecting her first child, Rihanna shared with E! News her secret to riding the wave and not letting it all get to her: just pretend.

“I mean, it’s either that or cry myself to sleep,” she said. “Who wants to do that? You wake up with puffy eyes the next day, it’s a waster of tears.”

She explained to Vogue that it’s the same spirit that inspired her Savage fashion line: “Savage is really about taking complete ownership of how you feel and the choices you make. As women, we’re looked at as the needy ones, the naggy ones, the ones who are going to be heartbroken in a relationship. Savage is just the reverse. And you know, guys don’t like getting the cards flipped on them — ever.”

Now that we know how RiRi does it, we can get our savage on and have a badass day.
