Fans Wish a Few Other ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 12 Contestants Could’ve Been Crowned ‘Miss Congeniality,’ Too
Although this year’s Miss Congeniality snatched her crown with each tear of a drag queen, there were a few other members of this cast who could’ve earned the title. There were 12 eligible contestants for season 12 of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’
Season 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race may or may not have been cursed. Although the finale was held online, contestants still had their chance at winning a number of recognitions given at this event.
Although this season started off with a handful of contestants each competing for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar,” one walked away with the title of “Miss Congeniality,” following in the footsteps of performers like BenDeLaCreme and Ivy Winters.
Heidi N. Closet took home the Miss Congeniality crown
Historically, fans played a role in choosing their Miss Congeniality, oftentimes voting online. However, as a result of the “Miss Fan Favorite” fiasco with Valentina, RuPaul since had the queens vote amongst themselves for the contestant deserving of the recognition.
For season 10, that meant Monét X Change, For season 11, that meant Nina West. For season 12, the contestant who took home the title was the always outgoing and charismatic Heidi N. Closet.
Although RuPaul wasn’t exactly excited that she kept the “N. Closet” part of her name, the host awarded Heidi the title during the finale episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12. For some fans, this winner came as a bit of a surprise.
Some fans claim another queen should’ve won Miss Congeniality for ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ season 12
Although Heidi N. Closet is this season’s whistling winner, there were a few other contenders mentioned by fans on social media. That includes the musical theater enthusiast, Jan, stole the show in the Madonna-themed Rusical.
“I’m late but Gigi Goode should’ve won and how was Jan not Miss Congeniality?! Great season though and love Jaida,” one Twitter user said.
“The most disappointing part of the #DragRaceFinale was Crystal not lip-syncing to El Debarge’s ‘Rhythm of the Night.’ Oh, and Jan not winning Miss Congeniality,” another Twitter user wrote.
Another favorite cast member amongst fans was Rock M. Sakura, who was the second eliminated during this season. She definitely made her mark with her huge heart and her unique sense of fashion — not to mention her fart humor.
“BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Rock M. Sakura has so much more to showcase and has the passion for this like you can see it in her eyes. Halleloo hallelee make Rock M. Sakura come back like Miss Vanjie,” another Twitter user wrote.
