‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’: Top 4 Finale and Pre-Finale RuMixes, Ranked

After RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 2, it has been a staple of the franchise to include the finale three our final four queens performing a remix to a RuPaul song. They happen during All Stars seasons and have also happened during the last several regular seasons, not including season 12.

4. “American” (RuPaul’s Drag Race season 10)

Considering the divisive rhetoric in America at the time, this RuMix had a little more meaning to it than the prior ones. The top four of season 10: Aquaria, Asia O’Hara, Kameron Michaels, and Eureka O’Hara penned their own verses

3. “U Wear It Well” (Canada’s Drag Race season 1)

After several non-memorable RuMixes for the most recent seasons of All Stars and RuPaul’s Drag Race, it was only right that the inaugural season of Canada’s Drag Race revitalized the RuMix. The top three of the season: Scarlett BoBo, Priyanka, and Rita Baga, remixed this legendary RuPaul song with their own flair and it had great results.

2. “Kitty Girl” (RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3)

“Kitty Girl” is now known as one of the most mainstream RuPaul songs, so it was a big task for the top four of All Stars 3 to take it on. But Trixie Mattel, Shangela, Kennedy Davenport and Bebe Zahara Benet delivered four very unique verses and put their own stamp on the track.

1. “Read U Wrote U” (RuPaul’s Drag All Stars 2)

There’s no RuMix to-date that some anywhere as close to iconic as the one that started them all. The top four of All Stars 2: Detox, Roxxy Andrews, Alaska and Katya started all of this when they remixed RuPaul’s “Read U Wrote U” with their own verses.

This RuMix is so popular that Detox, Roxxxy, Alaska and Katya reunited for a special quarantined edition in the early days of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to Detox, when they listened to an early version of the track, they knew it was going to be memorable. “Nobody heard each other’s lyrics, nobody heard each other’s verses until the night before we went in to do rehearsal,” she told Logo in 2019.

“When we they gave us our iPods with that track [“Read U Wrote U”] on it. we were all sitting around this little table with an umbrella, smoking cigarettes, dying. It wasn’t even finished. But everyone on set was like, ‘This is going to be f****8g epic,’ and it was.”
