Actress Salma Hayek doesn’t seem to age. At 53, she still looks much younger than her age. And her recent Instagram posts prove that age truly does not mean a thing.

Find out how the Frida actress maintains a shape that much younger women envy, plus the 1 workout Hayek depends on to keep fit.

Hayek’s recent bikini Instagram post

The actress turned 53 years old on Sept. 2 and celebrated in part by posting a photo of herself on the beach in a bikini. Her post read in both English and Spanish, “Yes, tomorrow I’m 53. So!?”

The world reacted.

Many of her 12.6 million followers commented on the photo. “Ba-Boom!”, “I always wanted to marry you,” and “Mama mia!” One of her followers even confessed that he and his wife agreed it was all right if he cheated on his wife with Hayek.

Later on Oct 30, Hayek posted another photo, similarly of herself on the beach. She appeared with no makeup, showing once again that she seems to defy the aging process.

She has been pressed about whether or not she has had plastic surgery to maintain her youthful appearance. She told Town & Country in March, “I haven’t done an-y-thing. I don’t know how to explain it.”

She also adamantly told EOnline in 2011 plastic surgery just wasn’t something she wanted to pursue.

“I believe that every woman is entitled to fight to preserve her youth. I’ve never had anything done on my face—I’ve never had dermabrasion or peels or injections of any kind, nothing.”

And the actress isn’t impressed with the frozen-faced look of many actors who have used Botox or other methods in an effort to look younger.

“It’s like the uniform of a generation,” she said. “And it’s not necessarily beautiful. It’s not wrinkled-looking, but it’s not beautiful.”

Hayek’s message: become your own work of art

The Mexican-Lebanese megastar has always been very open about her struggle with keeping in shape, while at the same time, making it clear that no matter what one’s size or shape, one’s body is something to celebrate, not to be ashamed of.

She told Harper’s Bazaar in 2016, “I was always borderline chubby, because I like my food and, frankly, I like my wine. I have to say, I’m pushing 50 but I feel great.”

“I’m quite short. I have an overly… wavy body. I’m not like the girl next door who is easy to cast,” she added. “…You have to get up and become your own work of art; from the moment you put yourself together. …”But celebrate who you are and celebrate life and know that this is your experience.”

Hayek’s go-to workout

When it comes to exercise and workouts, Hayek is dependably honest about the subject, telling People in 2015 that it’s not a discipline she has.

“Some people have the discipline to exercise in the morning, and I didn’t develop that. I don’t have time to exercise. I am working. I’ve had some 20-hour days.”

Her go-to exercise for keeping in shape? It’s walking her dogs. As she says in her Instagram post featuring a photo of the 5’2″ actress with her canine companions, “This is my version of exercise and these are my trainers. #dogs”
