In the decades since Sex and the City aired its first episode back in 1998, Carrie Bradshaw’s relationships with her friends and lovers have been examined.

Mr. Big and Aidan continue to be hot topics of debate in articles, videos, and social media chats. Now that John Corbett’s confirmed his return for the HBO Max TV show, the discussion will be reignited. But Chris Noth once shared his own thoughts about Carrie’s romantic life and did not hold back.

Mr. Big and Carrie are part of pop culture fame

Every time Chris Noth rolled down his window as Mr. Big, fans either expected Carrie to make a mistake or finally get things right him. Her on again, off again boyfriend eventually became her husband, and based on current rumors, her ex-husband.

Though Carrie dated Aidan, Keith (Vince Vaughn), Wade the pothead, Aleksandr (Mikhail Baryshnikov), Berger, and a host of other suitors, Big broke her heart more than once.

To some fans — and to Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha — he was a bad habit that Carrie just couldn’t shake. Some viewed him as a powerful manipulator.

To others, it’s Carrie who was the messy one. She had a string of romantic dalliances, hurt Aidan over Big, and she clung to selfish expectations in her relationships. All of this is still debatable, even in 2021.

Chris Noth once called Carrie a ‘whore’

Noth once sounded off on his role as Big and compared his character to Sarah Jessica Parker’s. In some ways, he believed Big did not get a fair shake and felt Carrie was not held to the same standard. During a 2014 interview with News.au.com, he discussed Big’s personality and Carrie’s culpability.

“One of the things I tell people is that he never tried to pretend he was anything other than what he was. It was [Carrie] who tried to pretend he was something he wasn’t,” said Noth.

“He was always honest about himself — he never cheated on her. The relationship just didn’t work, and he went on to get married while she went on to … how many boyfriends did she have? She was such a whore! [laughs] There’s a misconception that Carrie was a victim of him, and that’s not the case — she was a strong, smart woman.”

Noth added that he enjoyed playing the life-changing role and it’s likely he’ll mostly be remembered for it.

What about Big in the ‘SATC’ reboot?

In February, rumors swirled that Noth would not reprise his role in the upcoming Sex and the City reboot. He’s since played coy about the news, but in the past, he indicated that Big’s future probably wouldn’t be that exciting.

Meanwhile, John Corbett — aka Aidan Shaw — told Page Six he’ll be appearing in And Just Like That…, sending the fandom into a tizzy. Is it true? As word traveled around the internet, EveryOutfitOnSATC posted it on their Instagram page, and Sarah Jessica Parker chimed in.

“I’m not saying one way or another whether our beloved Mr. Corbett’s interview deals in facts or fiction but the response is amazing to read… x,” she wrote. Filming for the SATC limited series is set to begin this spring and it’s anyone’s guess which of Carrie’s past loves will show up.
