‘Sex and the City’: Sarah Jessica Parker Once Revealed the One Obsession She Shares with Carrie Bradshaw in Real-Life
There’s been a renewed interest in Carrie Bradshaw and Sarah Jessica Parker ever since the announcement that Sex and the City will be making its return to HBO. HBO Max recently revealed a reboot is in the works, according to Variety, and fans across the world couldn’t be more excited.
Parker has spoken about her relationship with the iconic character many times and has frequently stated that she and the character are not one in the same. However, she and Carrie Bradshaw both have one obsession that she can’t deny.

Although there are many differences between Parker and Carrie Bradshaw, they both have an insatiable desire for designer shoes. She admitted this during a resurfaced 2001 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“That’s a very convenient overlap of character and person,” Parker said, laughing. “That I don’t have to dig very deep to understand, this affinity she has for shoes.”
Parker’s love for designer shoes dates all the way back to her early childhood, when she was only allowed to get two pairs of shoes per year. Back then, she would sniff leather shoes because she loved the smell of fresh leather.
“From the time I was quite—really quite a small little child, I recall very vividly going to shoe stores—we were allowed two pairs of shoes a year—and just picking up the leather and just smelling it, and like, becoming intoxicated by the smell of the fresh leather,” Parker said. “Truly, I mean I have no other problems except for—I mean, I really…”
She still remembers her first pair of patent leather shoes
Her love for shoes runs so deep, Parker still remembers when she got her first pair of leather shoes.
“Of course, and they were the real thing, and we were allowed one, and then I would get my sister’s hand-me-downs, so you can imagine the delight of fresh leather, you know what I mean, when I was in between sizes,” Parker said.
She owns ‘well over 100 pairs’ of Manolo Blahnik shoes
Parker first discovered Spanish shoe brand Manolo Blahnik when she was only a teen and quickly fell in love with the brand. Since then, she’s collected tons of them, but was too embarrassed to reveal how many she owns.
“I’m too ashamed,” Parker said. “I mean, I have … My name is Sarah Jessica, and I own well over 100 pairs of Manolo Blahnik’s.”
She also assured that she doesn’t pay full price for every pair of the expensive designer shoes, buying some of them used.
“Some I got on sale, and some I even buy I’d bought used,” Parker said. “So I’d say I paid full price for a… A large percentage.”
‘Sex and the City’ will be returning to HBO
It’s been several years since the last Sex and the City movie came out, but there’s no question Bradshaw will have racked up many more shoes by the time the new season airs on HBO Max.
