Some contestants might not find love in ‘Single’s Inferno’

Unlike other dating shows, Single’s Inferno takes place over nine days and only has eight episodes in its first season. So far, fans might be unconvinced solid couples will form by the show’s end. As three new contestants were introduced in episode 5, it caused some drama among the brewing romances.

Fans watched as Kang So-yeon had conflicting feelings toward her pick Oh Jin-taek. But after realizing he might not feel the same, she found a new interest in her initial choice Moon Se-hoo. Moon spent most of the show focused on Shin Ji-Yeon, who showed no real interest in him at first.

After the two new female contestants showed interest in Moon, he ultimately picked Shin to go to Paradise. There is more drama as Song Ji-a and Kim Hyeon-joong were loved by fans as a couple. As they showed promise to leave together, Cha Hyun-seung gets between them.

The season finale ended the way fans expected but some contestants’ decisions were still shocking. Some beloved couples made it and got to leave Inferno hand-in-hand. While fans initially felt An Yea-won deserved better, she still got her happy ending. Other contestants sadly left the island without a partner.

Dating reality shows often follow the same structure from season to season. Shows like The Bachelor focus on one center bachelor looking for love among 30 women through a series of dates and intimate moments. A Single’s Inferno Season 2 will also likely focus on the same structure seen in season 1.

A group of male and female contestants arrives on an isolated island with the promise of finding a partner. The contestants are unaware of each other’s professions and ages. To escape Inferno, the male or female contestants must vote for their choice. If their choice is a match, they leave to Paradise as a couple.

In between, the contestants take part in small challenges to win luxuries like iced coffee or a special date. Romantic feelings are not guaranteed as a person’s interests can change overnight.
