‘Snowfall’ Season 6 is the final chapter of his story

Snowfall was renewed for a sixth and final season in April. The news came eight episodes into Snowfall Season 5, which was such a hit with audiences that it was on track to become the most-watched season in the show’s history, per FX.

“Today, as the fifth season of ‘Snowfall’ reaches new heights of acclaim and viewership, there is no question that this series has become an FX classic drama,” Nick Grad, the head of original programming at FX, said in a statement at the time.

“We are thrilled to order a sixth season that will enable Dave Andron, Walter Mosley, and the rest of the producers to bring ‘Snowfall ‘to a climatic finale showcasing the brilliance of everyone involved, from the stellar cast led by Damson Idris, to the writers, directors, artists and crew,” he continued.

Damson Idris shared his hopes for next season

In the latest season, after accidentally taking LSD, Franklin came to realize how much he’d changed and strayed away from what he wanted when he started selling drugs. He became a monster, as he put it to Veronique. But Idris hopes his character will have some redemption before his story is over.

“There’s always room for redemption, hopefully,” he told Deadline during its Contenders Television event. “He’s definitely coming to terms with who he truly is, and he’s starting to see that he is actually a monster…I hope we’re able to empathize with some people that have been affected by Franklin, and understand that he, too, is a victim of the times and he’s a victim of being in that circumstance. And having no choice.”

Whatever happens, Idris promised it’ll be a thrill-ride until the end.

“What I can say is you’re going to be at the edge of your seats,” he said. “Especially when you’re doing the show for so long, it gets to a point where Franklin Saint becomes James Bond, and you’re like ‘Oh, he’s gonna survive this.’ And we don’t want that to happen. So with this season…you guys are never going to know who’s going to survive and who’s going to die.”

So far, casting details for Snowfall Season 6 have not been shared. But, based on how the show left off, we can assume that all those surviving characters will be back. There could also be some new faces, much like how Kane and Veronique were just brought in on the show.
