Sources Say Scott Disick and Sofia Richie’s 15-Year Age Gap Played a Role in Their Split

Many people know Scott Disick best for his long-term involvement with the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, as well as for his decade-long romance with Kourtney Kardashian.

Disick, a former model and entrepreneur, began dating Sofia Richie not long after he broke up with Kardashian, and while the two seemed happy, the internet ran rampant with salacious reports.

These days, Disick is single once again — but the speculation hasn’t stopped, with some recent reports claiming that it was their large age gap that led to the split between Disick and Richie. 

Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian dated for nearly ten years

Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian started dating about a year prior to the debut of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The young couple proved to be volatile from the start, and the reality show only served to highlight their differences.

Even the birth of their three children couldn’t fix the problems that they had, and ultimately, viewers began to see the couple experience more bad times than good. Disick’s very public issues led to many meltdowns between the pair, all filmed for the benefit of fans around the world. 

In 2015, only a few months after the birth of their third child, Reign Aston, Disick and Kardashian decided to split.

While they kept the reasons for their breakup private, many fans speculated that Disick’s reported alcohol misuse and hard-partying ways finally drove a permanent wedge between them.

When did Scott Disick start dating Sofia Richie?

Kourtney Kardashian didn’t let the grass grow under her feet and almost immediately after her split from Disick, she began dating a much-younger model.

As for Scott Disick, it took a while before he found someone with whom he shared a connection, but when he did, it definitely made headlines. In early 2017, Disick was spotted getting cozy with Sofia Richie, the young daughter of the iconic singer Lionel Richie.

By late 2017, according to Yahoo, Disick and Richie made their romance “Instagram official,” posting a cute selfie that made everyone sit up and take notice. There was no doubt that the couple was photogenic and seemed to get along — however, there was a fifteen-year age gap between Disick and Richie that many critics found hard to ignore.

Richie, who was only eighteen at the time at the couple started dating, seemed much too young to have anything in common with a thirty-four-year-old father of three.

In spite of the fact that Sofia Richie claimed their age difference didn’t bother her and that she and Disick were “best friends,” many media outlets found the age gap hard to swallow.

Sadly, in early 2020, it was reported that Disick and Richie had called it quits after Disick spent some time in a rehab facility. Richie has stayed mostly mum on their breakup, but a recent report via Women’s Health claims that their age difference actually had quite a bit to do with their split. 

“Friends attributed their 15-year age difference becoming an issue,” the source revealed. “He’s in a very much different place in his life, really focused on a more quiet lifestyle, his kids and his investment businesses and Sofia, at 21 years old, is really still trying to figure what she wants to do, which drove them apart over time.”

The source also stated that the two are no longer on speaking terms and that both Disick and Richie have totally moved on. Only time will tell what the future holds for Scott Disick, but it is certain that fans will be waiting and watching for the next development.
